Shaving My Eyebrows - My Journey.

Maria has been an online writer for several years. Her articles often focus on beauty and beauty products.

How I shaved my eyebrows

I shove half of my eyebrows for my Halloween costume and I couldn't believe I did. My eyebrows were naturally great looking and I was really worried to mess them up just because of a one day whim.

This is the Before picture.

Suddenly half of my Eyebrow was shaved

Quick decision great solution, and afterwards?

This past Halloween I decided I wanted to be a witch, a sexy witch.

At work they were going to have a costume contest so, as much as I didn't badly want to win I did badly want to look great, within my budget. I found a very cheap little girl's witch long costume at Walmart, one of those that are super stretchy. Since I'm peitite and didn't really want to spend too much time worrying about a costume I decided to try it on and keep it if it fit.

It did! Apparently someone else had also thought about buying that dress since right next to it was a very cool looking witch hat. I couldn't believe it! They were a great match so I got that one too.

On the early afternoon of October the 31st, still with dozens of little braids in my hair to better shape it once they were undone, I was standing in front of the mirror puzzled about what to do with my eyebrows. I had checked a few YouTube videos and I had an idea of the type of makeup I wanted and it called for "Mr Spock" like eyebrows.

"Ahhh" sighed I just at the thought of being able to pull such eyebrows. I was trying to come up with ideas of how to achieve those amazing, unique and very elegant looking eyebrows! I thought of wearing very heavy make up, of taping half of my eyebrows to make the small black hairs disappear... and finally I wondered what it would be like to have my eyebrows shaved.

I went to YouTube, yet again, for help. This time YouTube wasn't so helpful because what I wanted to find out was whether or not my eyebrows would look the same after they grew back up or if anything horrendous would happen to them.

My common sense was telling me that there was no reason for my eyebrows not to grow back with the same shape, besides, I was sort of in a hurry. So I decided to just go for it and shave them.... Would this the biggest mistake ever??

Straight to the point for those who like shortcuts

I applied lukewarm water and hand soap, I took the razor, calculated where I needed to start shaving from... and simply went for it. I shoved in the same direction of the hair growth. I made sure to get all the hair removed in just one stroke. I had to do it twice for my left eyebrow, though. Quick and simple. I had to paint the missing part of the eyebrows for the following 6 weeks, but I am glad to announce that for the past week and a half I have gone au natural once again!

My make up was praised! Hooray! - Did my effort get me any prize? Yep, my praised make up received a prize!

3rd prize. Not bad for not badly wanting a prize!

As you can see from the picture it was amateur make up. I'm not a makeup expert, I can barely make my self up for the daily requirements! haha. But for expert advise we have YouTube!

This is the end of my story. Feel free to ask any questions. I will gladly reply to them, I know thinking of shaving your eyebrows can be intimidating, but I can assure you everything will turn out ok.

Would I do it again?

I often ask myself this...

... and I can't come up with an answer!

Although, on second thoughts... yes, I would say yes, I would do it again. Two months wait time for the eyebrows to be fully grown again is no big deal. And I was happy to use the razor instead of shaving creams, ointments, wax... ouch!

Yes, I was happy with the old style hair removal, the trust worthy shaving razor that I, anyway, used for shaving my legs.

And it sure was worth that almost perfect Dr. Spock eyebrow I wore that day!

My eyebrows looked perfect! unlike the eyebrows of the lady in the video. ..

This is the main video I used for my sexy Halloween witch makeup. As you can tell from the make up of the lady in the video she didn't shave her eyebrows. That was another option I considered but, being the perfectionist I am, I decided to go for it. It was a great experience, well worth it!

You have beautiful eyebrows so I'm happy the Mr. Spock look was only temporary. :)
