Pretty Plus Size Fashion

Hi, I'm RitaAnn~

Here's a little about myself. I let my guards down and brought 'me' to the table. It's only one part of me however, so you'll have to read some of the other 'stuff' I've done over the years to get to know more about me. Until then read on and please leave some 'hub' love or a comment, it's important and helps me grow in my mad blogging skills. :-)

Year after year I grew. Not taller, oh no! I'm 'almost' 5', so my growing couldn't possibly be taller, just wider. I've thinned out over the years, changed many habits, and taught my kids good eating habits as well. (actually hubby is the good eating habits guy). Then I got depressed seeing the kids on the streets (kids I've grown to love over the years) and lost a whole bunch more weight. I'm back up to 105 lbs. at this point but remember I'm really short.

However, even though I have thinned out, I had to say that big people clothing is UGLY!

When I was larger, I not only had a terrible time finding cute short people clothing, but a harder time finding short 'big' people clothing (at a price within a stay at home budget) then I had to search for short big people clothing which adds frustration to my short self. lol

So, plus size industry, listen up...

I think your clothing is ugly and now I buy skinny people clothes!

......and seriously ladies, it feels sooooo much better being thin. I feel healthier, get more compliments, laugh more and feel sexier. That's just me though. I still need to add a few pounds because I like a little thickness, but at this point I'm healtier.

If you want to know some of the things I did, read on.

I didn't diet, or use any diet plans. I cut my portion sizes down slowly, (start out with 1/2 the meal you usually have, then when you're ready, only eat 1/3 until you're at the desired weight. Then add some veggies and fruit and continue to eat this way.) etc.

Just healthier and less food, common sense and fun exercise.

I didn't mind being bigger, but for such a small person, it wasn't easy for me to find clothing that I liked or that would fit, let alone both. Life just wasn't simple for my little short big self.

Before I started cutting back on my portions and eating healthier I was in a size 12-14 and was able to fit some 16's. For a person right at the 5' mark and not even that tall, it was too big. Clothing wasn't just the problem, health was a bigger problem; and I knew it.

Plus Sizes for females - Pretty Clothing for the 'Big Girl'

I like clothing that gives a good curvy, round figure without looking 'frumpy' or sloppy. Fashion should look like it's made for you, to enhance beauty, and help you feel your best. Many of the Plus Fashion lines I came across made me look 'fat' and uncomfortable. The bigger I got, the more depressed I felt. The extra weight also made me tired, bloated, out of breath, my knees, legs and feet hurt and I knew I was unhealthy. Big girls are beautiful but I don't know that the fashion industry feels the same way.

We need help finding nice, attractive clothing in all forms including: Tops, pants, panties, shoes, lingerie, shorts, bras, pajamas, and anything else I hadn't thought of.

Swim Wear for the Fashion Plus Queen

Swim wear for the plus size gal is always a hard find for the girl who likes to look fashionable and look her best.

Finding the right fit and tasteful look can be daunting to say the least, discouraging, frustrating, time consuming and exhausting are the words I think of when the thought of swim wear shopping comes to mind.

Measure yourself according to the site measurement charts, look for the flattering suits for your best look, and be ready to try the suit on when it's delivered to your door. Having measurements will make the ordering & fitting process an easier process.

Clothes can make you look thinner.

Here's a photo of me when I was size 10-12. This is probably one of the best looks on me. I had enough thickness on me to feel like I looked nice. I was healthier and my 'rolls' weren't rolls then. lol Daughter GC and I were able to share. :-)

Business Suits for the Plus Sized out there.

Do you wear suits for work?

Finding a suit isn't a fun experience for me; I'm under 5' tall. So, when I have to find a look for business I go into stress mode and want to hide away in a cave until there are no more jobs with suits.

I added Suits for Plus Sized ladies because I thought it might be easier for you to find something here that you might like.

Online shopping has become so easy for consumers that a large majority of shopping is now done online.

Find something you like, give the measurements, and have it delivered right to your door; Easy.

Go with fitted instead of a 'block' look

Many times I see women who, in my opinion are trying to hide those curves.

Big girls, you need to ROK! those curves, don't be too shy.

The shoulder pads and square look of a business suit shouldn't be something bigger women should wear. Just sayin'. This type of look is generally too conservative (not always a bad thing, don't get me wrong) but for bigger women, in order to look your best, you need a more fitted top, not shoulder pads or a squared look; it's just not helping your look.

The jacket with the v-neck look is a more welcoming look with a little lacey top if you can get away with it. You want to look your best, stop settling for what you think people want to see. Even though you're in a business meeting with other women, you should still look sexy.

Boobs are the Key! :-)

Just enough to show your feminine side, but not enough to show the world what you have.

Stay away from Square Jackets and Shoulder Pads.

Everything in Moderation

As with anything, it's all about moderation.

When I was trying to lose weight, my taste buds just wouldn't stop yelling for yummies. With that in mind, dieting wasn't something that appealed to me and wasn't something worth doing in my opinion. However, knowing that in order to lose weight my intake must be less than it had currently been.

By cutting down on sweets, junk food and drinks with too much sugar, it was easier to lose weight. At that time the notion of packing food in containers specifically to lose weight wasn't really the main stream, but those containers are really a great idea.

I've added storage solutions for your food intake in order to help you with your journey and adventure losing weight. Use the storage containers by making your meals ahead of time and measuring the amount of food you consume. This would have been something I would have incorporated into plan had it been available to me or had I known about it.

Good luck, don't try to lose weight, try to enjoy life. :-)

If you like asparagus, try this.

This is a healthier alternative to pizza or junk food. I wasn't good at "dieting" .... "it's against my religion" I say. LOL I prefer to eat foods I love instead. This recipe adds both health and taste. Bacon and Aspargus. Who knew?

Bacon Wrapped Aspargus

I love bacon.

I also know it's bad for me, but when I was trying to cut back, I still made the things I loved to eat.

Why scrimp and be miserable when you can eat and enjoy?

I love veggies too so that did help me eat better and healthier in some cases. This is one of those recipes that helps you eat your greens and still adds enough flavor, you'll enjoy your meal.

  • 2 lbs Fresh Aspargus, Trim the hard ends off
  • 12 Slices Bacon
  • 1/2 Cup Light brown Sugar
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Pepper

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Divide Asparagus spears into 12 bundles. Wrap 1 Slice of bacon around each bundle. Start wrapping a little less than 1/2 way up from the bottom. Lay the loose end of the bacon underneath the asparagus so it doesn't come off or add a toothpick to keep the bacon on. Arrange each bundle in low-sided casserole dish.
  3. In Medium Saucepan: combine brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, garlic salt, and pepper. Bring mixture to a boil.
  4. Pour hot mixture over asparagus bundles.
  5. Transfer dish to the oven and roast for 25 minutes, or until the spears have begun to wilt and the bacon looks fully cooked. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Don't look Fat on your Wedding Day! Look Fabulous

We've all seen it. The Bride that looks twice as big as she should on the day that she shouldn't.

Standing in the line waiting to see the bride and groom. Been there, done that.

But, have you ever wondered what you should say to the bride that looks way too big for her wedding dress?

Ladies, you want to be beautiful. You also want to be beautiful on that one day that you're suppose to shine. Don't let your wedding dress make you look fat, like your falling out of your dress, like you found that $1,000 dress at the goodwill, or, that all your guests will see your fat rolls.

Take time to consider what people are REALLY thinking.

When you're trying on your dresses take someone that will be brutally honest with you. You NEED that person who is critical. Ask them to go along with you, even though they might be the most annoying person you know; take them, if they're honest.

The one thing I can tell you is that an honest opinion will be worth the money you spend on that dress. We have a tendency to pick out what we want or like; not what might be flattering.

Keep the "Boob Rule" in mind while picking out your dress, but DO NOT hang out of the dress.

Remember to find something fitted at the top and loose on the bottom, the focus should be your face, not your boobs, but you want to flatter your figure with just a touch of femininity. So boobs; Yes. Hanging out; NO!

Also remember to look at your belly rolls. You don't want to be uncomfortable either, so loosen up on the bodice area because in ALL HONESTY, it's NOT appealing to see a beautiful bride hanging out at the bust, and rolls of fat in the belly.

Surely, no one told her.

Don't let that person be you.

Take someone with you, ask their opinion, if they like it and you don't, keep looking.

Take pictures and ask others you trust how it looks on you. Is it flattering to your face and figure, or showing all your bumps and fluffy areas? If is shows ANY fluff, take it off and find one that doesn't.

Don't be that person I want to say hello to in the bride line, but can't figure out how to tell you that you wasted your money on a dress that simply doesn't look good on you.

@tonybonura: Hi Tony! Thanks for commenting on the site. I want to ask you if there's anything I need to add or do to the site to make it more appealing, while you still might have the site in your minds eye. Also, about the plus size. I'm tiny now! Also, I'm not even 5' which has it's disadvantages. I always looked twice as big when I was big. lol I was in a 12-14 and outgrowing it quickly.....going up into the next size. There were some hiccups in my life and through a series of events was able to loose it over time.I love being thin, I feel so much healthier and get soooo many compliments but I always wanted the cute clothes that thin girls wore. It's always been hard finding clothing to fit me anyway because I'm so short. Anyway, I'm so glad you stopped by the site and would be so grateful for any information you could share.Looking forward to hearing some of your wisdom. :-)RitaAnn~........who loves a New Orleans parade.Find out more about our city wide Leukemia Awareness Party!Encouraging Businesses, Vendors and communities around the US to helpstomp out another......leukemia.......PARTY STYLE!

One of my wives was a plus sized queen. She was really a very lovely woman, just not the petite gal that is touted in today's fashion world.TonyB
