Quality Walking Shoes for Women with Sore Feet

Deborah suffered for several years with Plant Fasciitis, or painful heels, until she experimented with several brands of shoes.

If You Do a Lot of Walking, It is Essential That You Wear Quality Shoes with Good Support

Wearing Comfortable, Quality Walking Shoes May Help Your Feet

Are you looking for walking shoes which will help your tired, sore feet? Are you looking for arch support and good padding?

When I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis, my podiatrist suggested that I wear either clogs (with 1 1/2 inch heels) or good quality walking shoes, such as those made by New Balance. Although I worked in a high school at the time, I did not want to go around wearing clunky looking athletic shoes all of the time. As a result, I began researching the different types of comfortable shoes which are available for women who have sore feet. I found several brands of sandals (Rainbows and Birkenstocks), as well as attractive clogs (manufactured by Dansko and Easy Spirit). Once I knew my sizes, I was able to re-order them, when necessary, from Amazon.

Next, I needed walking shoes. The two brands I like the best are New Balance and Sketchers.

In researching the shoes which are available, I have been pleasantly surprised to discover that not all of them look as if I am planning to run a marathon. In fact, some of them have decorative trim which make them look attractive with a casual pair of jeans or slacks. Although I am unlikely to ever wear a pair of walking shoes to a dressy event, it is good to know that there are some fairly attractive athletic shoes available for those times when I am at the high school where I work or out running errands.

Pay Attention to the Shoe Width, As Well As the Size

Buyers can find a good selection of walking shoes in stores as well as online. Sometimes you can even find them for less online than you would spend in a major department store, as long as you are confident of the size you wear in that type of shoe. If you order them online, you may want to note what reviewers have to say about the width. For example, reviewers of the New Balance walking shoes repeatedly stated that most people will want to purchase the wide width, unless their feet are very narrow.

I highly recommend that people read online reviews for any product they plan to purchase, whether they are going to buy it online or not. With items like shoes, you definitely want to read reviews, especially if you are going to buy them online. You want to know whether or not other buyers thought they were comfortable, fit well and lasted a long time.

What I Learned from Reading Reviews Before I Bought

One of the types of walking shoes which especially appeals to me is the New Balance Women's WL442 Sneaker. They come in a variety of colors. However, for sheer practicality I found that I like the black and grey pair, with a touch of pink. They have a rubber sole and a synthetic upper. They are also one of the least expensive New Balance walking shoes.

I also liked the fact that they scored an overall 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon, with five of the twelve buyers who rated this shoe giving it 5 stars. One reviewer commented that they work in a hospital and they thought these shoes were perfect.

Several of the reviewers commented that these shoes run narrow, and the buyers advised people to order a wide width (C/D) unless your feet are extremely narrow. Some people had even returned their shoes and reordered them in the C/D width. Other than that, buyers tended to feel that the shoes were lightweight, attractive and comfortable.

I was glad that I read the reviews of the different styles before I bought. I was very satisfied with the style and size I purchased.

Slip-on Sneakers - A Combination of a Clog and Walking Shoes

I love to wear shoes which I can just slip onto my feet, without having to tie or Velcro them. While you might experience a little slippage would would not be ideal for a marathon, these shoes are a great idea for people who need comfortable walking shoes for a stroll around the block or a shopping trip to the local mall.

They also meet the recommendation of my podiatrist that I wear shoes that are a little higher in the heel area than in the toe area.

Should You Buy a Toning Shoe?

Another option which I thought was appealing was the toning shoe. I have worn toning shoes before, and do believe that they help to keep my legs in shape, although probably not as much as advertisers would like you to believe. Newer toning shoes are not designed like those in the past. For example, most are no longer designed to throw you slightly off-balance in order to make your legs work harder.

One of the things you will want to look for is good arch support. Without it, your feet will eventually get tired and sore.

If you are already prone to plantar fasciitis or other foot problems, you want to be careful when selecting walking shoes, since you might spend several hours a day in them.
