Guide to the Top Rated Flat Irons for Thick Hair
As someone that has tried nearly every flat iron for my thick hair I thought I'd take the opportunity to write about a few of my favorites. This guide includes reviews for the Remington S5500, the Pro Nano, the CHI and more. Before you leave be sure to leave a comment below of what flat iron works best for you.
HSI Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron
By HSI Professional, the HSI Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron is the most popular flat iron on Amazon.com. Priced at less than 50 dollars and with a four and a half star rating, this flat iron is top of the line. With this straightener you can flip, curl, and straighten your hair and it works on all hair types.
The ceramic/tourmaline ion plates give your hair a shiny and silky look that won't take lot of time to achieve. With different heat setting for different hair, and a design for easier holding, the HIS Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron will make doing your hair fast and easy.
Customers love the HSI Flat Iron. The swiveling cord keeps itself from tangling or twists, making hair care less of a hassle. The heating pads have plastic behind them, which doesn't get too hot, so you can hold that part and style effectively without burning yourself. This straightener is perfect for thick hair and gets the job done in no time at all. It is hard to find a bad review of this product. This flat iron heats up quickly, the performance is amazing, and it has a great price on top of that. The HSI Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron is definitely one of the best out there.
Remington S5500 Hair Straightener
Coming close behind is a flat iron that may surprise you. It is the Remington S5500 Digital Anti-Static Ceramic hair straightener. This flat iron has an amazing price of less than 20 dollars and has a four and a half star rating.
The anti-static technology will help to avoid fly-aways and frizz while the temperature controls make this straightener great for any hair type. This product also has a swivel cord to avoid annoying tangles and twists and heats up in less than 30 seconds.
This is a very light weight straightener, weighing only a pound, which makes it easy to hold while you style your hair. A downside would be that this product does heat up very quickly and can get very hot so you have to be careful where you hold it.
Best Flat Iron
Babyliss PRO Nano Titanium Flat Iron
Babyliss PRO Nano Titanium Flat Iron is another high ranked straightener on Amazon.com. With a four and a half star rating, this is a well-liked product that does cost a bit more than others. You can get the Babyliss for a little less than 90 dollars and costumers say that it is worth it. Great for thick hair, this flat iron has heat settings great for different hair types and is light enough to make styling enjoyable. It curls the hair well and those curls will hold and also give straightener hair a glossy look.
This is another iron that gets extremely hot, so you have to be careful around it and be careful of where you set it. One customer even suggested using and anti-burn mat on your counter. Because of the high temperatures this flat iron can reach it is suggested that you read the manual to know the settings for your hair type and also use a heat protectant spray. Besides the heat the Babyliss PRO Nano Titanium Flat Iron is a great product and will certainly get the job done.
Cheap Flat Iron for Thick Hair
CHI Flat Iron
Finally, we have the well-known CHI flat iron. Amazon has a CHI Limited Edition Flat Iron to Save Our Earth which is priced at only just below 70 dollars. A five star rating is typical of CHI products, while there are actually not that many reviews. As usual with a CHI flat iron you can curl, flip, or straighten, and even makes wave in your hair. The flash quick heating is great for those with busy schedules and this straightener makes your hair look silky and shiny. While the reviewers are raving I do see one flaw in the design. The flat iron comes with a fixed temperature of 370 degrees, which may be too hot for some hair types.
For thick hair, the temperature is fine and the product does a great job. This is a cheaper CHI product, which people love, and it also supports a good cause. While this may not be the straightener for everyone, if you are looking to curl your thick hair and style it however you'd like this limited edition CHI is a great find.

Nooo the best is KARMIN it has to be! Urgh I hate seeing Chi on these lists, their irons break so easily. Karmin is much better quality, more features too :)

So I did extensive research and it seems 100 percent ceramic damages your hair less then the others. I have very and I mean extremely frizzy curly puffy Israeli hair. I use to sell Herstyelrs and although they get your hair dead straight even with humidity it seriously damages your hair and life span is short. Ghd is good but not 100 percent and my ends lost colour after using it a few times. Takes me an hour and a half to straighten my hair with a ghd. I have done lots of research and it seems the Chi turbo 100 percent ceramic and the Hana 100 percent ceramic are recommended for my hair. I am wandering from someone who has used both with my hair or hair dressers which one is best for my hair. I also don't want to fry my naturally dry hair. Thanks!
