TriDiva, thanks for the comment. LOL!! That would be something special! Everyone of my tattoos are meaningful and I always tell people the same. I like the colors of turtle tattoos, turtle tattoo designs. I prefer sea turtle tattoos, but as long as there's good detail, they all look great. Glad you found a meaningful tattoo, always follow your heart in everything.
TriDiva on July 24, 2013:
Wow, I had no idea there was so much meaning attached to turtles! I only recently toyed with the idea of getting a turtle tattoo because I started doing triathlons a couple years ago and I'm very slow, often finishing last. But my mantra is "slow and steady, wins the race" from "The Tortoise and the Hare." So I persevere and always finish. The key component behind all endurance sports is to FINISH. Looks like I just found my new tattoo! :-)

TJP, I am so glad you have found some inspiration. This is why I do what I do. Your story shows how one can find meaning in a tattoo. A turtle tattoo is fitting for you. So glad you are deciding to do this. Best wishes and send me a pic when you are done.

My father's nickname for me was "Turtle". No one else has ever been allowed to call me that besides him. He passed away around a yr. ago. I am 63 yrs. old and I am going to get my first tattoo in a personal tribute to my dad. I quit smoking for my mom. These pics are great, I am now more determined than ever to get my tattoo. Thank you again from, a devoted daughter.

I don't have a tattoo but there have been many many times I've thought about getting one. IF I ever get "inked" I will get a four-leaf clover to symbolize my Irish heritage or a TURTLE!! I love turtles and have them all over the house and I even have one hanging from my rearview mirror in my truck :) I see about 12 designs here that I would consider getting.

Excellent Hub. Voted up and shared. I've seen several turtle tattoos but had no idea of all the different meanings.
On a side note, I'm getting tattoo number four next month-- a memorial piece for my uncle-- and it will be my first animal (A buzzard, since that was my uncle's nickname. He ran a camp and that was name he chose for himself. Plus, he kind of resembled a buzzard.)
Thanks for this. Well done

Another awesome hub TLW! It doesn't surprise me that so many people go for a turtle tattoo - they really are majestic and awesome animals, especially when you see them in the ocean.
