While a watch, at first glance, might appear to be the ideal gift for someone you love, the choice of a timepiece must reflect the style and personality of the recipient. It will seldom be worn if they do not absolutely love the watch.
In the following article, I am providing a quick summary of five timepieces that could very well be that perfect gift. While they vary widely in style, type, and price, these watches represent excellent quality and functionality.
The CIGA Design U-Series Blue Planet Watch
While my watch is sheathed within an oval titanium alloy case, a stainless-steel version is available. This timepiece weighs 85 grams, is 15 millimeters thick, and boasts a diameter of 46 millimeters. A sapphire crystal hovers over the watch's face.
Power is provided by an automatic mechanical movement developed by CIGA Design and manufactured by the Tianjin Seagull Watch Group.
The watch face encompasses an aluminum model of the Earth surrounded by a pair of rings.
Every sixty minutes, the hour hand of a traditional watch rotates 30 degrees. During this same period, the accompanying minute hand completely circles the dial.
The Blue Planet's model Earth functions as the hour hand, rotating 30 degrees every hour to ensure its navigational symbol points toward the outer ring's appropriate hour marker. This motion, however, presents a timing problem because the inner ring, which functions as the minute hand, must take the model Earth's rotation into account if it is to circle it within 60 minutes. Working together, CIGA Design and Seagull modified the selected mechanical movement gear ratio, providing 390 degrees of rotation every hour. The model planet's navigation symbol always indicates the correct hour and minute.
TheCIGA Blue Planet's design, which won the 2021 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève Challenge Watch Prize, is intended to express the wearer's awareness of the importance of protecting the Earth's environment.
Of course, if you feel your husband is negligent of his health and family due to overwork, this gift gently suggests the world might not stop turning if he were to take a break.
CIGA is presently offering a 32 percent discount on this timepiece.
The Sugess Men's Mechanical Chronograph
While the unique styling of the Blue Planet is appealing, some men prefer a more traditional design. This model from Sugess is well-styled and includes a chronograph complication.
The Sugess 1963 Panda weighs 70 grams. It is 12 millimeters thick with a diameter of 40 millimeters.
This model features two black subdials set into a dark-rimmed white face. One subdial functions as the second hand, and the other, along with the hand utilized in most watches to count seconds, measures elapsed time.
When the Panda's crown is rotated clockwise, it winds the mainspring that powers this timepiece. A quick jab of the button above the crown will either start or stop the timer. The chronograph is reset when the lower button is pressed.
A synthetic sapphire crystal hovers over the dial, which, along with the watch's Seagull ST1901 movement, is enclosed within a shiny stainless-steel case. During tests, I determined that the Sugess 1963 Panda gained eight seconds a day: an impressive feat for a watch in this price range. This timepiece is available at Amazon.
The Citizen Eco-Drive Brycen Chronograph
Like the Sugess Panda, this Citizen Eco-drive boasts a chronograph complication. There are, however, significant differences between the two watches.
The Citizen Brycen Chronograph is genuinely an international watch. It was designed in Japan, manufactured in China, and is powered by a capacitor fabricated in Indonesia.
This timepiece weighs 75 grams. It is 13.6 millimeters thick and has a circumference of 42 millimeters. The watch's black colored face features two light gray subdials and a tiny window that displays the day of the month.
The main hands of this timepiece note the passing hours and minutes, while the lower subdial functions as the second hand. Elapsed time is measured by the upper subdial and what is typically used as the second hand.
The Citizen Brycen Chronograph is an Eco-Drive watch that collects natural and artificial light and converts it to the electrical energy required to recharge the timepiece's power cell. The timepiece's power cell (capacitor) lifespan can be as long as ten years. This watch is available on Amazon.
The CIGA Design Denmark Rose Quartz Watch
This timepiece is 7 millimeters thick with outer dimensions of 32 x 33 millimeters. Its 316L stainless steel case is composed of three shiny layers formed to symbolize a rose in bloom. A tiny crown juts from the right edge.
Above the watch's face hovers a sheet of hardened mineral crystal. A set of black-colored hands are highlighted by mother-of-pearl inlaid amid a rose petal pattern and four distinctive Roman numerals.
This watch is equipped with a quality Miyota 90S5 quartz movement and fitted with a slender white leather strap. Other available versions feature braided metal straps and mechanical movements.
A necklace showcasing a similarly designed pendant is also included in this package. The CIGA Design Denmark Rose Quartz Watch is well-designed and will flatter almost any outfit. This timepiece is available at Amazon.
The Heyplus Watch
This sports watch is available in black or pink. It weighs 1.3 ounces. The watch's rectangular-shaped aluminum case is 10.3 millimeters thick, 35.8 millimeters wide, and 47.9 millimeters tall. A single pushbutton and a touch-enabled display are used to control this device.
Its 1.78-inch AMOLED display boasts a resolution ratio of 368 x 448 pixels and is protected by a layer of 2.5D tempered glass.
The Heyplus watch is fitted with a liquid silicone strap with a handy quick-release mechanism.
According to the manufacturer, this timepiece's 305mAh lithium battery can support operation for up to 21 days between charges. A USB magnetic charger is included in the package.
A three-axis accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and blood oxygen sensor ensure physical activities and heart rate is continuously tracked and that the wearer's blood oxygen level can be checked.
Six different watch faces may be stored in the memory of the Heyplus watch. These watch faces can be easily replaced using the companion application.
I prefer the Heyplus watch to many of its rivals because the mechanism that wakes its display as the wearer's wrist rises or twists works exceptionally well.
The manufacturer has provided the coupon code DFKTS7EV, which offers a 45 percent discount during Black Friday sales.
