Fresh White Sneakers

A pair of fresh white leather sneaks should be a staple in any mans wardrobe. Pair them with your favorite khaki shorts and no-shows, (no tube socks, please,) chinos, or jeans for a cool, classy, casual look. My obsession with minimalist white sneakers began back in the early '80s when I purchased my first pair of Adidas Superstars. Fat shoelaces were a thing back then. Then in '91, I got a great deal on a pair of Adidas' Stan Smith's. I still have them and wear them regularly. I once walked 18 miles in those bad boys. I've owned quite a few different styles of casual white sneakers from then until now and I think my most recent minimalist sneaker purchase is worth sharing.

Childhood Memories

The '80s were dope when it came to sneaker choices. From Adidas, Classic Reebok, Nike, and of course those cool Suede Puma's. Throw some fat shoelaces in them and you were set for a night out at the skating rink or hanging out at the mall. These casual sneakers weren't made for running or CrossFit. They were designed strictly for chillin'. Those were the good old days!

Adulthood and Fashion Statements

Fast forward to today. When you're looking for a versatile pair of sneakers that says "hey I'm refined, a bit older, but still enjoy chillin'." Reach for a pair of white leather minimalist sneakers. Fall has arrived, break out the jeans, t-shirt, and a zip-up hoodie for a casual look that is acceptable just about anywhere. Need something a little spiffier? Pair those sneaks with your best chinos and a fly v-neck sweater for a simple but classy look. A pair of minimalist white sneakers pair well with so many casual clothing choices, they are a truly versatile sneaker.

Vintage Stan Smith's

Stan Smith Adidas $85

In 2011, sneakerheads thought they were never going to see these again. Adidas, in their infinite wisdom, decided to stop producing these iconic sneakers. With much backlash from their loyal customers, they were eventually brought back in 2014. The classic green trefoil design was back with a few other colors as well. I love these classics and will hate to see mine go.

Common Projects $480

Not really a budget sneaker but I had to throw these in here to show where the top of the casual sneaker bar is. The "Achilles," handmade with soft, supple leather in Italy, is arguably the minimalist white sneaker that all white sneakers want to be. With its gold numbering at the heel, these shoes will be noticed by the keen sneaker folks out there. If you have the dough, I recommend owning these iconic, luxury handmade sneakers. Founded by Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami in 2004, Common Projects is a relative newcomer to the sneaker game and has set the high-end casual sneaker market on fire.

Mercanti Fiorentini $50-$60

Catch these if you can! These casual sneakers offer genuine leather and classic minimalist styling at an affordable price. Almost identical in look and feel to the more expensive Cole Haan Crosscourt II. Mercanti Fiorentini is a DSW house brand that hardly ever seems to be on the shelf. My personal favorites and I wear these at least a couple of days a week. Totally affordable, comfortable, and well crafted. Definitely a bargain for the budget-conscious shopper.

Cole Haan Grand Crosscourt II $95

The theme here is that all these sneakers are made of genuine leather and the Cole Haan's continue the tradition. Under $100 for well-made leather sneakers are a deal. The reason I considered these sneakers a budget buy is that if you shop around, you can find these for $60 on sale at DSW or at the Cole Hann outlet. Cole Haan is an American company that has been in the shoe business since 1928. Founded in Chicago, Illinois, Cole Haan specializes in high-quality shoes, sneakers, and clothing.

The Best Budget White Minimalist Sneaker

Hands down for me, the $50 Mercanti Fiorentini is the best budget, casual white sneaker on the market today. From the classic styling to the solid construction. These shoes are hard to beat. Extremely comfortable out of the box, they only get better the more you wear them. Even though they are 100 percent leather, my feet never get too hot in them. The rubber sole is squishy enough to allow for hours of standing and walking without sore feet. If you're looking for a sneaker that won't break the bank, then the DSW house brand Mercanti Fiorentini is the sneaker for you.
