It’s upsetting but true that an invitation to a wedding or cocktail party or almost any “special occasion” has an overwhelming effect on most invitees.
“I haven’t got a thing to wear," and then you rush to dressmakers, shoe shops, accessory shops, and all the shops in the town stricken with a desire to have something “dressy.”
You probably possess a wonderful collection of apparel and simply need to embrace the art of "redefining something old" and create a glorious outfit without having to spend.
"Special occasion dressing requires the aspects of style and image. It becomes easier to find what to wear once you figure out what expresses the personality that will help you look fabulous."
Try Not to...
Buy a dress or suit just to cause a stir for the day. If you must, get one that you can enjoy many times.
It's fun to get anything that can uniquely go with the other things you already have. A white top, for instance, can be paired with any skirt or pants regardless of style, fabric, and print. A lovely topcoat, similarly. can go with any dress in your wardrobe.
When deciding to buy, a suit that you can wear even after the occasion is a great choice. If you think it's something quite difficult to pair with anything, curve the promptings to buy no matter how desperately you feel to have something new.
Play up with colors - the right hues will bring you a blend of new interest.
Accessories, make-up, and hair are to be considered --- these are finishing touches that are vital for your overall look whether it's an evening or daytime event.
Often, how to apply your blusher better, or styling your hair prettily can make a difference and give you greater confidence than the style of your dress.
For casual events such as Sunday brunches with friends, or a day at the farm or beach; a hairstyle from the bun, ribboned to messy suits the occasion.
Challenge yourself to slip on an old dress and let imagination transform everything into how you want it.
If you look and feel incredibly beautiful in an outfit that has been enhanced by you, then why doubt? It does not matter how you embellished or simplified a certain getup, what matters is you in that dress.
I have a few pieces of clothing that I love wearing so often. As usual, I get bewildering looks from my sisters haha. I don't understand why I have to stop wearing something I very much like on me. I learned redefining clothes from a father who sews and it became my passion.
Even if people will start to realize they have seen my outfit before, re-wearing a dress with a bit of beautification is classy.
Do the Best You Can To...
Keep a clear silhouette
Traditionally, dresses for special occasions offer deluxe finesse. The purpose is for the clothes to come with bold designs and timeless silhouettes that dominate special moments.
It is better to avoid a lot of floating ends, furs, trinkets, beads, and other endless frills than to look heavy.
So often, we see women trying to stop their fur wraps from slipping, or walking guardedly so as not to trip from scary high heels. In this situation, she could be muddly conscious that it steals her freedom to move.
Go for Basic Neutrals
Colors such as ivory, beige, gray, taupe, black, are on the friendlier shades that appear to go with just about any hue.
No matter the occasion or season, neutrals are always to the point. This helps a lot when you want to change up the look, so it could be easy to pull in a new combination.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
Special occasion dressing is not strict about your kind of footwear. If you wish to come in pumps - take pride. Unless it calls for a dress code, then perhaps a festive pair of booties will give the voice. If you think standard heels are dull, a pair of light-colored boots can provide an edge.
Buy new ones if you need to, otherwise give a pair of old faithful a little extra tender loving care for the occasion. There are excellent refurbishing polishes and dyes that work wonders. Remember that often the party will be far too crowded for anyone to see your dainty feet.
Let Me Inspire You
Special occasion dresses have become an essential part of every woman’s wardrobe that to spend or not can be a wise treat.
"The goal in all this is to create a finer dress sense and challenge your ability to take what you already have and then cross-reference ideas with other things in your closet."
There is a good chance of you finding your own signature and use it as flavor and spice for special occasion clothes.
Don't worry about the simplicity of an outcome. Note that it should never inhibit you from enjoying your ensemble. The intention is to wear what is appropriate for an occasion, but with careful attention to presentation.
Have you ever tried the effect of an old dress? It probably won’t satisfy you because deep in your heart is a desire for something new. Well then at least you can go on a shopping spree with a clear conscience.
