Natural Beauty vs. Cosmetic Surgery: Good or Bad?

I'm Rachelle, a.k.a "TheMotleyChick," a lover of eclectic but ordinary people, situations, and topics. I love sharing helpful resources.

Okay, let's face it. We all know that we live in a world where the concept of beauty is hailed over just about everything else. The average person can spot Kim Kardashian from a mile away but would be totally clueless to who Theresa May is if she walked up to them and asked them for the time of day.

Rich women flock to plastic surgeons in droves, even broke women scrimp and save, finance, and even get second jobs to pay for cosmetic surgery...most probably wouldn't even do that to pay off their student loan debt, or save to buy a house.

In short, citizens of the world like to look at pretty things, and that same concept applies to people, so cosmetic surgery is here in a big way, and it's here to stay!

Oftentimes when we talk about plastic surgery, we tend to focus on the examples of times the process has gone horribly wrong, like in the case of Meg Ryan (sorry Meg, but what did you DO to your face?). But, what about the times when cosmetic surgery is done right? Does cosmetic surgery then trump natural beauty?

Kate Middleton had plastic surgery to prepare for her wedding, who could blame her? She is said to have had a nose job, lip fillers, Botox and hair extensions. After all, she did marry a prince, and she was expected to live up to the challenge of a royal wedding. Even still, Middleton's girl next door original look wasn't too shabby in the first place!

Scarlett Johansson reportedly underwent a series of nose jobs, but this young lady was stunning to begin with, so the rhinoplasty only served to enhance her natural beauty.

Blake Lively is the first case in this set where one could honestly say that cosmetic surgery completely enhanced her looks. She is rumored to have undergone a nose job and breast augmentation...whatever she did, it was a success!

Megan Fox allegedly went under the knife for a nose job, Botox and face fillers. However, the doctor didn't have much work to do, because she was a pretty girl to begin with.

And finally, of course I've included the girl everyone loves to hate, Kim Kardashian. There have been rumors that she constantly uses face fillers, and her nose and overall structure and definition of her face don't appear to be original - plus, that booty is ridiculous.

However, Kim K is naturally a stunning young woman, and just like Scarlett Johannsson, any surgery she has had only enhances the beauty she was born with. Here, the phrase, "She gets it from her mama!" is exactly on point, because she is the spitting image of Kris.

With most of the examples in the video slideshow above, we saw that most of the women featured were pretty girls to begin with, but they chose to use plastic surgery to augment their natural beauty. It begs us to consider a dialogue about how we feel about natural beauty vs cosmetic surgery.

Honestly, I think many of the actresses you mentioned were already so beautiful. I never understood why Megan Fox got more work done as she was stunning. Insightful article.
