Luxury Bags Leather Care: How To Remove Stains On Louis Vuitton Bags

Are you a connoisseur of luxury goods? If you are, you must be on the constant lookout for luxury bags leather care. I know a very cheap and effective way to remove stains on LV bags.

Instead of a wardrobe full of branded bags, I only have 2 Louis Vuitton Bags. My precious Louis Vuitton Neverfull and Louis Vuitton Galliera. I am so meticulous with them that I would even check the weather forecasts before taking them to office! No water spots on my 2 babies, please.

Alas, despite my fastidious efforts, I could not keep the leather stains away from my LV bag Galliera. One moment, it was spotless. The next moment, I saw some dark greasy smears on the milky beige cowhide leather strap! The dark grey smears stood out like a monstrous sore thumb! No!

How to Remove Stains On LV Bags

Before: Stains on LV leather strap

Before: Stains on LV leather strap

After: Stains lightened significantly after cleaning with eraser

After: Stains lightened significantly after cleaning with eraser

You fans of luxury leather handbags definitely know how I feel. I was devastated! I fretted and I moped. I scoured the internet for luxury bags leather care and leather cleaners for stains removal. Finally, an article from an angel on LV bag cleaner!

Surprise, surprise. The leather cleaner for stains removal is the humble ERASER. No, it’s not the soft white eraser. You need the small hard eraser knob at the top of the wooden lead pencil! You run the hard eraser gently over the stains and see for yourself the diminishing patch. Do not rub too hard to avoid damaging the leather. The stain may not disappear completely but it will lighten significantly.

This trick may not remove leather stains of all types. But this could be one of the cheapest luxury bags leather care you can find. You have nothing much to lose!

So, I purchased the white erasers to remove the dye from my bluejeans that rubbed off on to my petite noe. IT WORKED!! What a relief. Thank you so much for this post.

The dye from my jeans rubbed off onto my petite noe. I'm devistated. This bag was a gift for my 40-something bday and I've only had it a month. I bought the glycerine soap and a soft sponge (I read about that on some other site) but I'm glad I haven't tried it (I was too afraid that the soap/water would destroy the leather). I will try the eraser today. I hope this works!

I need help on my LV Speedy30 Damier Ebene. The Zipper Holder Leather part was soiled and stained, I tried cleaning it with a Saddle Soap but nothing happens, so I tried cleaning it with a 1 glass of water with 2-3 drops dishwashing liquid on it (diluted), and it seems that it made the situation worst. I can see some discoloration! What's the best thing to do? Can I post the pictures here?

Louie voutton make these awesome beautiful bags. Therefore, he should make awesome cleaners for them and make millions in the process. What's up with that Louie

I was just in a LV store on the weekend and asked them about blackish stain caused by the hardware on my Palermo GM. The SA told me to use an eraser and actually went to a desk drawer to show me which one...white one and the name brand they used was STAEDTLER. You find them everywhere for like $2...worked like a charm and they have lightened significantly you can't hardly see anything. So happy it worked!

Thank you!

I don't trust it. In the LV store I was told "it will become dirty, it will not look new for long" and he was right- 2 hours later using filthy public transport marks appeared. However. Like Tupac said that's just the way it is.

OH....and BTW, I spray all my new bags (leather part) with suede protector before using them, I did this with my denim baggy and the strap never got dirty or any water spots despite me using it to death in the summer.

Once I took one of my LV bags into the LV store to have a screw replaced, when they gave it back to me it had a dirty fingermark on it! I naturally complained, the sales assistant in the store whipped an eraser out from under the counter and rubbed until the stain came off - so LV officially use erasers to!

I am truly a LOVER of my LV, and had just got a new one for my birthday, and I like it when it starts to turn the darker color on its own, but I had gotten some black spots on it from I guess rubbing up against my clothes or something, and I was wondering how to get it off and I didn't want to put anything on a LV they cost to much to mess up, so I seen the on line and I thought I would try it on a small section, and it worked wonderful...thanks for the tip...

Just to share to you...I only read this today but yesterday, I was in the mall and it was drizzling and my 7 year old son's palms became wet and sweaty and accidentally touched my monogram speedy bag. I was very upset after seeing the watermarks on the leather and I knew nothing could remove it as I have already experimented on some bag cleaners and leather care products to no avail...then I thought, why not try a ballpen eraser sometimes called MAGIC ERASER since it has rough edges and one person told me before she uses fine sand paper to lighten the dark spots on her LV bags...so off I went to a bookstore and bought myself FABERCASTLE double-edged eraser, one side for pencil and the other for permanent marker (grey & white)and rubbed it gently on the watermark and voila! It did it!

Maryann D. on March 20, 2011:

Wow that worked great! I have a new Delightful and the top trim is getting some black marks. The eraser really lighted them up. Thanks!!

Lania on March 10, 2011:

Thank you so much... Your eraser advice worked well on getting the smudge stain off my LV keepall.

Jubic on January 25, 2011:

For our wedding anniversary, my husband bought me a Galliera Mono and Speedy Damier. I've always wanted to have an LV and was saving for Speedy. So, you'll probably imagine how euphoric I was when I had it plus the Galliera. They were just a day old when I stained my Galliera, I had no idea how it happened. I panicked that I hurriedly damp a cloth and wiped it on the leather! And oh my!!! I was horrified when I saw the leather turned from light beige into brown! "No!!! This can't be happening!!!" How idiotic!!!

Well, it's a good thing that I read your post. I looked for my daughter's pencil and found one with white eraser. it did lighten up and not that noticeable anymore. Thank you very much!!! It really works!!!

Bre on January 17, 2011:

Thanks you the best!

I bought a Beverly bag a few weeks ago and must have brushed the side up against my car (we have lots of snow and mush on the roads this time of year so vehicles get filthy) and the beautiful cow-hide leather part was lightly brushed with black dirt. I never even put this purse on the floor so I was crushed. But the eraser worked! Looks good as new! Thanks for the tip.

Yasmin on July 20, 2010:

Thanks for the tip! I just bought my LV Neverfull a few days ago and there were dark stains on the leather parts. I think it came from a cheap plastic bag that I stuffed into it. Will definitely take note of the things I dump in my LV!
