Dressing Hot Yet Adorably Modest?

Learn the art of dressing shapely yet demurely regardless of age.

There probably were instances where you hesitated about whether to wear a low neckline top or a mini skirt. How did you deal with it?

Women could enjoy clothes in a style that makes them feel harmonious. But the moment "hesitance" to wear an outfit comes in, it's time to ponder upon what makes you unsure.

The changing pattern of the world today has built conflict between fashion and dressing up accordingly. Many people are beginning to respond to the way women dress as if clothes now have become a means for one person to assess another.

Dressing hot yet adorably modest can be tough as different people have different standards of what is "hot" considering how it opposes being "modest" which means conservative. But taking the whole thing in a more fair judgment and by how we should deal with things the world offers today; what is "hot" already varies across the world.

We can take this as a "new adage" to trick the hot trend. It could be a task so challenging as to be nearly impossible.

How Can You Dress Hot While Still Being Modest

The lady in the photo (above) wears a black sleeveless dress with a high neckline and a red top that is loose-fitting. It's an ensemble that covers the shape of the bust and the top of the body making the whole outfit flattering. The style, colors, and accessories make everything looks so proper.

Her "glamorous" clothes are worn in such a way that attention would seem to be drawn to the lady that she is than any part of the body. If you rate her in today's seemingly "hot" language, she is hot yet modest.

Though the trick can be more difficult because society’s standards of modesty have changed so much over time, the adage could pull both ends halfway and work from there. This doesn't mean changing the standard, it still is an effort to establish clearly what is considered modest.

Let's say dressing hot yet adorably modest is all about making you stand out for being different than the usual revealing attires.

The approach simply implies no bare midriffs, no too short shorts or skirts, and no too low necklines.

It could be all about being airy yet not overtly sexy or funky, and only suggests a modest look that's actually very romantic and feminine.

It's better to set up a positive solution this way than a full-scale revolt of imposing things too hard. The approach can help convey the message to preserve the value of modesty by heart and why it is such an important character issue.

The reality to be "fashionably hot" but modest can be a motivating factor for young women to slowly make good decisions on their own and adapt themselves to a wonderful attire without stepping out of fashion.

Take a look at these suggestions:

1) Long or Fancy Tops

Long or fancy tops are trendy and sweet. This style comes with a hemline that falls below the waist. They are very adaptable and can perfectly look nice with a skirt, leggings and a good pair of jeans. Choose a tunic that smoothly flows or a blouse that can be tucked in.

It may have ruffles, laces, buttons, zippers, beads, sequins, and embroidery, but still is falling down the midsection. Long "sexy" tops can allow you to expose the shoulders and arms which are enough to make you look "hot" without the need to show cleavage and navel.

2) Gentle Form-Fitting Dress

Let's set it straight - a little form-fitting is different from tight and clinging clothes.

A gentle form-fitting cut comes halfway between fitted and loose-fitted forms. If you're not comfortable, then it's tight. If it's a bit loose-fitting, work on the seams so that you present yourself nicely. Women in the 1950s and 1960s wear form-fitting clothes yet they possess such respectable flair.

When you know which basic lines are helpful to enhance your figure, you can work out different variations and enjoy shapely elegance all the time.

3) Bright Colors and Accessories

Since we are all visual creatures, we easily notice things that stick out. Bright yellows, blues, violets, purples, and greens will make you stand out. Orange always denotes an atmosphere of a strong vibe. Your being cheerful and creative in your outfit makes you irresistible.

Belts, printed bags, and even your choice of footwear can send an aura of attractiveness. I observed that people are drawn to women wearing espadrilles and neutral-toned slip-ons. Ever noticed that?

Don't ignore hats. They exhibit nobility that turns an outfit stunning. Wear a beret today or a boater's hat tomorrow, it's classy and beautiful. Custom jewelry as well is enchanting. Go for gem-inspired ones.

Trying to think more on the lines of color other than the cut or length of an outfit suggests something "hot" to the eyes.

4) Whites and Pastels

Did you know that light colors are similarly attractive? While white reflects cleanliness and perfection, pastels as well denote a feeling of cool confidence. Pink is charming and in fact the color associated with love.

Light colors promote positivity and captivate people who appreciate composure. They carry tenderness and likability that makes you look charmingly desirable, meaning, you rarely will repel people.

If bright pink is seen in children's wardrobes, that's because it is the color of playfulness. Hence, the more tender shades of pink go great for mature age as they represent the peak of femininity.

5) Short dresses and Opaques

Mini skirts and shorts have never been out of trend. However, wearing this style restricts your freedom to move. It also dictates how you should sit or the world will see your underwear.

Dark-colored thick opaques look great on short dresses, underskirts, and shorts. The thicker leg coverage guides the mind and eye to appreciate your overall ensemble rather than the quality of your legs.

You will be loved not because you show off the lower part of your body but for the creativity of having the freedom to enjoy both a short dress and the ability to move with ease. With opaque, you can be hot in minis all the time.

How to Dress Your Age

As you reach a certain age, you also begin to shift on clothes that make you feel more comfortable in a look that is agreeable to everyone. You start to say no to tight dresses and bare skin. It gives you a better sense that at 40, 50, or beyond, you should know better.

This balance in dressing sense results to an air of "sexiness" that leaves a bit to the imagination.

Go for what accentuates your best body traits. If you have a great body, a well-fitting getup is endearing. Even if you're curvy, there are styles that make you stand out without feeling awkward.

Why not get your clothes tailored? Wearing the cut and style you love in your dress will have you oozing in confidence. The purpose is to bring out the natural glamor and congeniality of how you look at a certain age.

In Conclusion

When you dress in modest attire, the world will appreciate you for being a woman of true elegance. Men will thank you for the thoughtfulness of helping them treat you with respect, and women will admire you for taking fashion to a higher standard.

If your style of dress can be worn to a Sunday brunch, dinner party, date, or wedding, and you are getting amazing compliments, then you have learned the art of dressing hot yet adorably modest. You looked great for getting it right.

This was really interesting, I enjoyed it. I have always dressed this way because of my father who was a minister. It was always a challenge as a teenager wanting to look sexy but getting out the door past my dad.

Hello toomuchmint,

I'm with you. It truly has been disappointing our young women have to show a whole lot of skin for fashion today. I bet you too agree that the most perfect way to pull them back into the modest thing is allowing them to dress hot provided it has a touch of modesty, better that way than too much imposing. So nice to meet a woman of sensual elegance in you.

With us all in this campaign, we shall make it. You're so sweet loving that pink finesse. Thank you for reading and cheers!

Great hub, Tonette! Sometimes I walk through the mall and wonder what happened to American fashion sense. Shorts are so short. Tops are so low. There's so much emphasis on skin, and so little on style.

It's nice to see appreciation for classic styles like below-the-knee skirts in flattering colors, or color-coordinated outfits that attract positive attention instead of licentiousness.

I love the pink cardi and the coordinated bloom. Great hub!

Awesome hub. I wish I could get the girls and grown women who step out in t-shirts as dresses to read and understand this! Voted useful (the Up button is not currently displayed for me to vote up).

Thank you Escobana. You're right, a cleavage can be modest if it is not combined with extra mini skirts. This makes this beautiful asset of a woman to look fascinatingly modest and sexy because hot and modest played well together all along, who can resist such a beauty? :=)

Very insightful, beautiful and artful idea. You and your friend will surely be among the most envied beauties. Cheers to you and goodluck!

Interesting Hub with a fascinating title! I do however think that a cleavage can be very modest if it is not combined with extra short mini skirts.

My younger girlfriend who has an eye for the modest kind of sexyness, send me back into my bedroom once or twice to change my mini skirt and high black boots into, skinny jeans and pumps. With my larger cleavage it all fell into place.(sort of:-)

Nice to meet you here and thanks for the lovely fanmail!

Voted up and shared!

Thank you Chris. All that goes to one thing again - modesty is still the best policy. Glad that you have stopped and read my hub. I wonder what it means by future ex-lawyer. Would be reading your hubs to know the answer.

Cheers to you!

Great hub. A woman can't be truly beautiful with some mystery, and she mustn't look like she's trying too hard. Clothes that are too revealing show a lack of grace and class that is anything but lovely.

Oh MsDora, thank you! It's always great to know women who believe on the possibilities of subtle solutions. I think it's what the world is in dire need of today. Hot and modest can truly go together when both worlds consider to meet halfway.

Glad that you find the hub creative and insightful. I like your attitude on a wise and moral lifestyle. More power to that thought! Thank you MsDora.

Hot and Modest! You showed me that it can be done. Will recommend this article. Very creative and insightful!

Tonette Fornillos (author) from The City of Generals on March 10, 2012:

Thanks for the insightful thoughts Dolores. I too wish more and more moms could lay down dressing rules without being tyrant so fashion could be attractively appropriate (and even hot) without being trashy.

Liked the history of swimwear for women, the details were very useful and the subtle changes were interesting. I learned from that, thanks. There's one thing I see, swimwear today is going back to the old basic! Thanks for sharing that to us. Awesome!

I so agree that a woman or girl can look very attractive, even "hot" yet dress in a modest manner. Some of the outfits I've seen on very young girls - I can't believe their mothers let them buy such get-ups. Having real style does not mean you jump on the trashy band-wagon.
