Clean Those Dirty Brushes!
Every wonder how much dirt, oil, and make-up is left on the brushes we use to apply make-up to our face? Think about how often we use these tools. Every. Single. Day. I don't know about you but I use make-up because my face is not necessarily blemish and oil free. So that residue and dirt ends up somewhere. Most of it on our brushes. Because of my love for all things Pinterest, I recently found a very inexpensive and easy way to keep those brushes and tools as clean as can be, without having to buy new tools or spending money on one more expensive cleaning product.
You only need 3 ingredients, and odds are you already own them. (Well, at least one for sure.)
Dawn is my dish soap of choice. I have tried numerous others in my attempt to save money but have found that I end up using more product than if I had purchased Dawn in the first place.
Vinegar is a key ingredient in many cleaning recipes I use. I'll be sharing those at a later date as well.
Dish Soap & Vinegar
Here is the recipe I used:
2/3 cup vinegar
1 tsp dish soap
1 1/3 cup hot water
Mix all three in a measuring cup or bowl of your choice. I used a measuring cup so I only had to clean one bowl.
Next, place your make-up brushes in the cleaning mixture. I swirled them around a bit trying to get them nice and soapy.
Let them sit for 5 minutes.
Next, run them under cold water until the water runs clear. This took me a while with the 2 brushes I use the most - my foundation brush and eye shadow brush.
Last, I laid them on a clean towel to air dry.

Make-Up Brush Cleaning Routine
The article I found on Pinterest recommended cleaning your brushes every other week to keep them at their best. Honestly, I probably do this twice a year. I suppose I should do this more often, now that I know how EASY it is.
