One tattoo that you may want to consider is the flag tattoo. Although flag tattoos are not popular, they are a great way to represent your country. Flag tattoos commonly portray one's national flag. Flag tattoos can be worn by both men and women. Flag tattoo designs may only portray the flag but others may be designed thinking outside the box. Flag tattoo designs can also be very symbolic to the men and women that wear such a tattoo. There are also a variety of different variations and styles when it comes to flag tattoo designs.
In this article, we will discuss more on flag tattoos and flag tattoo designs. We will also review flag tattoo meanings and you will have the opportunity to view several flag tattoo designs pictured below. In the end, we hope that you are able to find ideas and inspiration for your own tattoo.
Flag tattoos come in a variety of different designs and styles that make for a great tattoo. Many people choose flag tattoos that portray their homeland and country. Although these are the most popular style of flag tattoos, there are several different ways that they can be portrayed in a tattoo. In this article, you can find all the different ways that flags can be portrayed, view flag tattoo designs, and get some ideas for your flag tattoo design.
When it comes to flag tattoos, they can hold deep symbolic meaning to the wearer. Homeland flag tattoos are quite popular and they are a great way to represent one's country and homeland. These tattoos are a great way to show national pride and heritage of your home country. A flag tattoo of your homeland represents that special bond and pride you have for your country and home.
There are several ways that these flag tattoos can be portrayed as a tattoo. One such example is having your national flag tattooed as if it is waving in the wind. This gives it the illusion that the flag is in motion, which makes for a good design. Some people choose to have their flag done in faded colors, which gives the flag tattoo a classic vintage look.
Flag tattoos can also be portrayed with relative symbols and animals that are closely associated to the flag of choice. For example, the American flag is associated with the bald eagle, which is the national symbol of the United States of America. Such tattoos may portray the American flag wrapped around a bald eagle or one may have an bald eagle flying while grasping the flag with its talons. Anything that is associated with the country chosen can work with the flag tattoo. It gives you the chance to choose a unique tattoo design that you will like.
Another great example is the flag of Western European countries, such as Ireland and Greenland. There are a variety of different symbols that can be portrayed with these two flags. Since both countries are part of the Celtic culture, you may see Celtic symbols associated with both flags in a tattoo design. One popular symbol is the Celtic Cross. Some may associate Celtic knotwork into their flag tattoo design. It is not uncommon to see other Celtic symbols associated to flag tattoo designs either, such as the four leaf clover and shamrock. You probably already know what can be associated with your country's flag, but if you are not sure, you may want to take the time to research such symbols to get an idea of what symbols would be appropriate.
VARIATIONS AND TIPS
Although National flag tattoos are the most popular variation of flag tattoos, there are also a variety of different flags that can be portrayed as a tattoo. For those of you that are into racing, you may want to consider a tattoo design with the famous checkered flag. Another popular flag tattoo choice is the Confederate flag tattoo. Since there is so many different people into sports these days, you may want to get a flag tattoo of your favorite professional team. Remember, there are many things that can be portrayed in a flag tattoo. This tattoo design gives you many options to consider, especially if you want a unique tattoo design that nobody already has.
One great thing about the flag tattoo is that nearly any design can be put on the flag. Flag tattoos can be put in the background of other tattoo designs and symbols also. If one thing is true about the flag tattoo, it gives you the grounds to be creative and create a unique tattoo design. Whether it is a Harley Davidson flag or a flaming skull flag, flag tattoos come in a large variety of different variations.
It is very important to take the time to research different tattoo symbols and meanings before you choose a final tattoo design. There are many different tattoo symbols, styles, and art to choose from. Be sure to take your time and find a tattoo that you like. You want to make sure you fully understand what your tattoo means and represents. I had to come back to let you know that I am getting a small tattoo of a dove and then after seeing your recent hub I am also getting a Celtic cross so thanks for all the ideas all due to you great hubs.
I'll send you a picture when they are done.
Take care my friend and enjoy your day.

*Sueswan, thanks for taking the time to drop by. Yes, I suggest the waving flag in the wind. I just believe it adds a better dimension to the tattoo.
*Nell, always great to hear from you. Your right, they are not a top popular design. In America, the flag is well represented as a tattoo. Also, in Japan, their flag is well represented as well.
*b Malin, always a pleasure. Very patriotic! I saw a tattoo the other day that actually applied the state flag with the American flag. Sounds offbeat, but he applied images from both flags and made a great tattoo.
*Eddy, thanks for another visit. I appreciate all your support. I really hope you go for it. I know you have been planning this for a while now.

I like the idea of a flag tattoo that looks like it is waving in the wind.

These are a nice selection of tattoos that I've seen often, and mostly in color. It's interesting that the people who seem to wear the Japanese flag tattoo in the U.S. seem to be white guys -- never Japanese-Americans. Voting this Up and Beautiful.
Frank Atanacio from Shelton on March 22, 2012:
yeah.. the flag tattoo.. that'll work almost falls in with the anchors..right? yeah look at me acting as if I knew what I was talking about.. up and awesome my friend :) Frank
