Author:

I love to share advice and tips gleaned from my own experiences.

Blotting paper sheets are just another form of dry shampoo for oily hair. It won’t be a product that is liked by everyone as most people will likely have their own preference when it comes to the type of dry shampoo that they use.

The aim of dry shampoo blotting sheets is to absorb excess oil from your hair without leaving any kind of chalky residue behind in your hair.

The one great thing about dry shampoo blotting sheets is that they are easy to use, can be easily stored in your handbag or your office drawer, they won’t spill any product, the product is small and portable enough to be transported anywhere and some of the brands on the market can be very affordable to purchase.

Dry shampoo blotting sheets are designed to soak up any excess oil in your hair.

How to Use Dry Shampoo Blotting Paper Sheets

  • The side coated with the rice power is the side that is rubbed or patted onto your oily hair.
  • You blot the paper that contains the rice power onto the roots of your hair near the crown of your head where it can get extra oily.
  • You can also pick out the different sections of your hair that are oily and wrap the blotting paper around that section and then rub the blotting paper up and down that section of hair.
  • You can also pat and rub the blotting paper onto the sides of your hair above your ears where your hair can also get very oily.

Ingredients

One side of the blotting paper sheets is infused with rice power. This is the side you use on your hair. Some brands of blotting paper can also contain oil and many other chemicals in them as well as the rice power. They might contain other ingredients like calcium arbonate, perfumem, iron oxides and fragances.

When to Use This Product

  • The best time to use this product is between hair washes.
  • It works best on one to two day old unwashed hair.
  • They won't be as effective on hair that hasn't been washed for three days.

Benefits of Using Dry Shampoo Blotting Sheet

  • You don't have to wash your hair.
  • Its easy to use if you need to refresh your hair in a short period of time.
  • If you don't have time to wash all your hair, you can just use the blotting paper on the areas of your hair that are oily and then put your hair up in some kind of updo like a bun or a ponytail.

My Opinion

It might take one or two attempts before you figure out the best way for you to use these blotting sheets. I find rubbing them up and down the section of hair that is oily is the best way to absorb the excess oil in your hair.

I find that these works best on one to two day old unwashed hair. When you use them on the second day of unwashed hair, they mightn't be as effective as your hair is more oilier.

They are very good at absorbing the oil on the roots of your hair near the crown of your head. But I find it is hit and miss on whether they absorb the excess oil on the sides of your hair close to your ears.

When you blot or even rub the sheet onto your hair you don’t really see any rice powder coming off the sheet onto your hair. You will see that the hair looks a lot less oily though.

Also the more you use the sheet in one area, the quicker the paper starts to absorb the oil. The paper can then start to fall apart so you have to be careful when rubbing it up and down between the strands of your hair as it become a bit fragile once it has absorbs the oil.

@ Andrienne, that's so true. It seems to be a product that isn't available in a lot of places. It's handy to have a packet in your handbag.

Adrienne Farricelli on April 13, 2021:

Although I was aware of dry shampoo, I never heard of blotting sheets for oily hairs. I can see how useful they may be though for those with oily hair, which for some reason or another, are unable to wash their hair.

@Elaine Byers, yes that is so true. Easy to carry anywhere too. I've used them for a while now and I really like them.

What a great idea - I've heard of dry shampoo before but never the blotting paper variety - would be very useful to keep in your bag when travelling!

@ Ravi Rajan, thank you. Yes, they are great for when you need to refresh some areas in your hair.

This is a useful product. I had never heard about it so far but considering its usage it would be really valuable in Asian countries .Thanks for sharing.

@Chitrangada Sharan, thank you. It seems to be a product that isn't really that popular.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on April 12, 2021:

Sounds like a useful product, for oily hair! I haven't heard about this!

Thank you for sharing this well written review!

@Farah N Huq, thanks. Yes, I think you're right. They do the job in the short term but like you mention, they probably wouldn't hold up in areas with that type of climate.

@Pamela Oglesby, I think they aren't that popular to be honest. They don't work for everybody. I very rarely see them in local shops here. You have to buy them online.

I never heard of these sheets, so this is a very informative article. I have dry hair, but I know people who have oily hair and I believe they would like these sheets. Thank you for sharing this information, Sp

Nice read! In countries with hot and humid climate these might not work too well. However, these could come in really handy when you quickly need to go somewhere formal from your work. Good to know about the product.
