Reasons to Wear Contact Lenses

More people are wearing contact lenses to replace them with their daily eye glasses. An Optometrist (eye doctor) can prescribe contact lenses for individuals that want to rotate back and forth with their regular eye glasses and contact lenses. Or contact lenses can be wore for regular vision, and you can just wear your reading-glasses over the contact lenses when your ready to read something. When choosing a contact lens, you can choose the clear lenses or a colored lenses. One pair of prescribed of contact lenses may last for 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month depending on the brand of lenses your optometrist prescribe to you. Brands that last a month: Biofinity, Air Optix Aqua, Proclear Sphere, Frequency 55 Toric, and others.

Cosmetic Contact Lenses

Importantly, whenever deciding to wear contact lenses for vision purposes or designer purposes; visit an eye doctor first. Also, never wear someone else's contact lenses; this could cause vision problems. Some individuals wear contact lenses just for cosmetic/designer purposes.

There are times when famous actors and performers wear different types of contact lenses. They may wear them for cosmetic reasons; which are known as designer color contacts. Color lenses may be wore in horror movies, video shoots, Halloween, and other occasions.

There are different types of contact lenses, for different reasons:

  • glass lenses
  • soft lenses
  • permanent lenses
  • temporary lenses
  • prescribed contact lenses
  • designer color lenses
  • cat-like lenses (Halloween)

When wearing contacts, the contact lenses have be cared for; this makes them lasts longer.

♥ Soft contact lenses and lens case should be replaced frequently. Ask your eye doctor how often to replace your personal eye products.

♥ Always wash hands before putting in contact lens, and wash hands when taking out lens.

♥ Keep contact lens case filled with Multi-Purpose fluid.

♥ Clean one lens at a time.

♥ If you wear eye makeup, apply your makeup after inserting your lenses; to prevent the soft lens from breaking or splitting.

♥ If you wear hair spray, apply it before inserting your lenses.

♥ Contact lenses should be cleaned after taking them out your eye, and before putting them in.


  • Do not touch lenses with finger nails.
  • Do not let soaps, lotion, make-up or other chemicals get on your lenses.
  • Do not use saline eye drop solution to soak lenses.
  • Do not use make-up in the inner parts of eye.
  • Do not use contact lenses when dealing with vapor chemicals, such as bleach, etc.

Daily Lens Care

  1. Apply "Visine for Contact Lens Relief" to your eyes throughout the day. Add 1 or 2 drops to each eye and blink 2 or 3 times. Do this up to 3-5 times a day as needed, to keep your eyes and lenses moist.
  2. Soak your lenses in a contact lens case with "multi- purpose soft lens solution" daily.
  3. To keep contacts clean; add two drops to lenses before and after, interaction with the eyeball.

Tips on How to Remove Contact Lenses

  • Wash your hands with soapy water, rinse and dry.
  • First, apply a couple drops of Visine Contact Lens Relief in both eyes.
  • Then open lens case for the right, now look up with your right eye.
  • Now while looking up push the lens down to the bottom white part of the eyeball.
  • And begin to gently remove the lens by squeezing it to remove it with your pointer-finger and thumb.
  • Place right eye contact lens into lens case.
  • Now repeat the same steps with the left eye.
  • That was easy right?

Putting Contact Lenses On:

  • Wash your hands with soapy water, rinse and dry.
  • First, apply Visine Contact Lens Relief to your eyes.
  • Then, add two drops of Multi-Purpose Lens Solution (Bausch & Lomb, Renu) to your lenses.
  • Place the lens on the tip of your finger, pull down lower eyelid with another finger.
  • While looking up, place the lens at the bottom lower white part of the eye ball.
  • Once the lens is in the eye, close your eye and look down; then the lens will move to the center of the eye.
  • Do the same steps for both eyes.

Some people may wear contact lenses and would never go back to wearing glasses. And others just wear cosmetic contacts for fun. Whichever reason you wear them for, remember to keep your eyes moist with contact lens eye drops a few times a day.
