Review: The Best Facial Scrub for Oily Skin

The Best Facial Scrub for Oily Skin/Natural Facial Scrub

The Best Facial Scrub for Oily Skin/Natural Facial Scrub

I am a fan of all-natural skin care products, so when I was looking for a natural facial scrub, I looked to the most affordable and reliable brand -- Burt's Bees. I ended up finding the best facial scrub for oily skin.

My criteria for the facial scrub were the following:

  • Had to be under $20 and last me at least two months
  • Must be non-comedogenic
  • Had to help prevent further breakouts
  • Must have beads grainy enough to exfoliate my skin, and at the same time not to be too rough
  • No chemical smell and preferably have a fruity scent

Special Skin Problems

I have two special problems when it comes to my skin that the scrub helped with:

  • Milia: I occasionally develop a milium -- a tiny white bump on my forehead or around my eye area. I have noticed that regularly using this scrub has helped reduce milia from popping up. When I scrub,I am refreshing my skin, so it has helped me prevent such issues.
  • Flakiness: As I've gotten into my 30s I have developed flakiness around my nose and forehead as well. My solution has been to use this scrub, rinse clean, and then with my face wet, apply moisturizer. This helps two-fold: the scrub removes dead cells and the moisturizer on wet skin helps prevent the flakes from developing.

It sounds like a tall order and it kind of is. But Burt's Bees had the right product for me. The best facial scrub for oily skin turned out to be Burt's Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub.

Not only did it fit all of my criteria above, but it is labeled as being 100% natural: there are no sulfates, parabens, phthalates, or petrochemicals in the product. The grains in the product are also ground peach seeds. I like the idea of using a scrub that could be similar to something my grandmother would have used many years ago.

The product is well below $20., so it is cost-effective, and a little tends to go a long way. I have been using it twice a week for three months, and I still have some left.

There is a slight film left on your face after using, but simply rinse your face off a little more and it will be gone.

The only warning I would give is to people who have extra-sensitive skin. If you use this scrub twice a week, there is a small chance it could start to irritate your skin, simply because the grains in it are well-defined.

But if you are like me, and want a scrub that isn't too fine, so that you can get that fresh, new skin feel after using the product, then this peach and willowbark natural facial scrub is for you.

Thanks, Express. I love Burt's Bees products myself. It makes me feel better putting pure products on my skin. Thanks for your comment!

I enjoy the Burt's Bee's line for the same reasons you've stated here. Some things irritate my skin and I am concerned about all the toxins in most products so I made the switch a few years ago. Good heads up for those not in the know.
