I have a busy life, and that's the way I like it. I look at life as an adventure, and I intend to have as many adventures.
Attitude Glasses A Fast Spreading Fad
Recently I noticed a close friend wearing glasses, I assumed she may be taking a break from her contact lenses. When I asked her if she was having a problem with her lenses, she replied that she had never worn contact or glasses. She explained she loved the look of the new attitude glasses and was trying on the look. I was shocked to ear her glasses were non-prescription bent glass. She was wearing glasses because she loved the look?
As a person that has had to wear glasses for many years, and would not be caught without my contact lenses. Her reasoning made no sense to me. She asked me if I liked the look. I told her my truth. After asking her, are you sure you want my opinion? I told her for a woman that has very pretty eyes, the glasses hid much of what I admired and aged her.
However, was wrong to even give my opinion, even though she requested I do so? Over the last year, attitude glasses have become very popular my friend was certainly not alone adding attitude glasses as a fashion statement. One only has to look to celebrities and professional athletes to see where this fashion fad got its start. Attitude glasses appear to be a big trend and becoming more popular every day. If the eyes are the window to the soul, are attitude glasses the window blinds to hide one's soul?
Eyes Are The Window To The Soul
Let's consider an important factor a factor we all have, the all-important "first impression". We need first to consider we all have individual opinions on any given subject. When I see a person walk into my space I at times do make superficial opinions due to their appearance. I take in what they are wearing how they walk, their hair, and yes I notice glasses from the get-go. Once I have had a chance to communicate as a rule my first impression may change drastically. There is a well-known stereotype that people that wear glasses appear trustworthy, intelligent. However, if the eyes are a window to one's soul, how did people that wear glasses ever earn such wonderful accolades? Glasses tend to cover the eyes themselves and hide much of the eyes' attributes.
It appears that people that chose to wear attitude glasses as part of their fashion statement are seeking some benefit from their choice to wear glasses without any real physical need. Are those that choose to wear attitude glasses trying to earn some of the benefits that are attributed to people that actually need to wear glasses? The fuller dark-colored rims are the most unattractive style of glasses known to man. Yet this is the style that so many now flock too.
Attributes Only A Pair Of Eye Glasses Can Project...
Studies have shown that wearing glasses has been proven to be associated with many positive social benefits. Benefits such as honesty, trustworthiness, intelligence, higher social class, and lower threat levels. This may be the answer to why so many people, women as well as men have made the decision even though they have 20/20 vision to wear attitude glasses. One other thought, could they be simply hoping to project a certain impression of themselves? Perhaps the impression that only a pair of glasses can project? My vision dictates corrective eyewear that will enable me to see clearly. I opted to wear contacts due to not caring to deal with glasses. I found them somewhat uncomfortable, as well as inconvenient. In my opinion, I am not willing to wear glasses to project possible benefits such as honesty, trustworthiness, intelligence, higher social class. I guess I expect one get to know me before they judge my intelligence and if I am trustworthy. Not sure a pair of glasses can provide such attributes, and if they can, this leaves me scratching my head.

Yes...When I found out I had to correct my vision I opted for contacts. I mean it just seems odd some would opt to wear glasses if they did not need to. My friend wears attitude glasses. She claims they make her look "smart" I won't even tell you what I think about that... LOL

I see many clothing stores here selling fashionable glasses that look ridiculous. If you don't have to wear them, avoid them at all cost. Most poeple wear them for a reason and they aren't a fashion statement.

It really does depend on the glasses you wear. For me, I have this crappy insurance provided one that's always bent no matter how many times I try to fix it, so I just stick to not wearing anything even if it makes me apart of the three blind mice.
