Calamine lotion has been around for a long time. The active ingredients are calamine and zinc oxide. Its main purpose is to act as a skin protectant, but most people don't realize what it can be used for. You can apply calamine lotion using a cotton ball and dabbing it on. The pink liquid can be runny and hard to apply without using a cotton ball. You can use it on your skin however, don't consume it or get it in your eyes.
1. Chicken Pox
Our parents may have used it on us when we were a child. If you have had chicken pox, you may remember this type of lotion. Chicken pox can be very itchy and annoying. You may also had to stay home from school, because it is highly contagious. Calamine can help with the itching and soothe the skin.
2. Acne & Blackheads
Calamine lotion will dry out your acne over time and help it improve. The best time to apply it is at night. If you use it every night, you should see improvement after two weeks. Always wash your hands and face before you apply anything to it. Once you apply it, it does dry quickly. Don't touch your face too often. I can cause the acne and blackheads to reappear. Blackheads can be a pain. Your nose and chin are the most common areas to find blackheads. It may take patience, but calamine lotion can help.
3. Skin Disorders
Skin disorders can be a pain to deal with. Keratosis Pilaris and Eczema are skin disorders that Calamine Lotion can help improve. It may also help with other skin issues as well. It will take about three weeks and your skin may look a lot better than it did before. Always wash your skin with mild warm water before you apply calamine. Warm water will open your pores up. A calamine lotion face most will help as well.
4. Skin Irritations
Calamine lotion is a healing and protecting astringent. It will help heal skin irritations and itching. Itching can make the condition worse, so try and not to itch. It can relieve itching right away, but it may take a few hours for the rash and bumps to go away depending on how severe the condition is. If you believe you are having an allergic reaction to something, call 911.
5. Poison Ivy & Irritating Plants
Some plants hurt and are itchy. You won't know until you step on one or walk past it. Carry calamine lotion on you while you are traveling. It will take the sting out and prevent the situation from getting worse. It dries up any oozing wounds.
6. Insect Bites
Some insects can be poisonous. Always go see a doctor, because insect bites can get infected. Calamine lotion can help dry up an insect bite and prevent it from getting worse. Bring calamine lotion with you when you go camping and you won't regret it.
It can take awhile, but calamine can help with scars. Acne scars and stretch marks can be embarrassing. With some patience, it might work for you. Why not give it a try?
8. Sunscreen & Face Primer
This product can protect your skin from the hot sun. Some make up doesn't, so you can also use it as a face primer underneath your makeup. This pink lotion can be hard to cover up, but if you dab it on lightly, it will work. Makeup can cause acne and blackheads. Using it as a face primer can prevent that from happening.
