4 People Who Died Mysteriously After Getting A Tattoo

If you have read my (2) Two Previous articles regarding telling a persons character by their tattoos and tattoo which draws evil spirits to you, you would know that a tattoo can either make you or break you. But having died from getting a tattoo has passed the line. As much as we would love to think that death by tattoo is urban legend, it is quite the opposite. Join me now as we go down another dark world of the tattoo industry and look at these four persons who died mysteriously after getting a tattoo.

1. Beautiful Healthy Italian Student

There was this charming and beautiful young lady from Italy who was only 23 years of age. Federica Lammatteo was a fun loving and sporty type of person who lived life to the fullest and enjoyed what she did. Federicia liked tattoos because she had several tattoos on her body, and later decided to get a new design. She visited a tattoo parlor one morning to have her drawing inked on to the right side of her spine. She left the parlor OK except for the natural sore feeling of the tattoo she just received. But the next morning things were not going so well for her. She complained of feeling ill and was shivering, she complained of feelings of pins and needles in her hands and feet. She thought it was a mere fever but her symptoms rapidly grew and her health rapidly deteriorated. She had to get emergency medical attention. Several doctors from the San Giuesppe Hospital In Milan came to examined her, but she began to hemorrhage soon after she arrived at the hospital and was transferred to "The Policlinica", The best hospital in Milan. The hospital was however unable to save her as the next day the right side of her heart stopped as she went into septic Shock hemorrhaging. Her family has been in shock about her untimely passing and sadly misses their lovely daughter. But what was the contributing factor to this promising young ladies demise. Was it the tattoo? Was the tattoo artist using a possessed needle? Who knows.

2. Tattoo Death In Greeley Colorado

Nemecio Benavidez of Greeley Colrado suffered complications after he received a tattoo from a home based body artist. Nemecio was 52 years old when he got his last tattoo. Health officials theorise that he got an infection from the needle used to ink his skin. After the infection, Nemecio health began to deteriorate rapidly as the effects of the infection began to spread all over his body. He died about a week later of Sepsis. Sepsis is the presence in tissues of harmful bacteria and their toxins, typically through infection of a wound. It literally sets off a mirage of inflammation which in return contributes to organ failure and later, death. But was it really an infection or was there some sort of cover up. Was Nemecio's death caused from a demonic tattoo artist who was seeking his next sacrifice?

3. Healthy Man Dies After Leg Tattoo

Seems like the Grim Reaper of Tattoo is quite busy these days. The story of John Chillingworth is a weird one. John Chillingworth of Bungay Suffolk decided that he wanted to get a tattoo on his leg, his right calf to be exact. He was ecstatic about getting his tattoo as it was actually a gift to him given by his fiancee for his birthday. But little did John know that his birthday present would turn out to become his death wish. John received his tattoo gift but was not pleased with the after effect of his tattoo. He informed his fiancee that his tattoo was hurting and felt like he was being stung by wasp. They decided to wait and see thinking it may just be the after effect of getting the tattoo and the pain would soon subside. But in a couple days, his leg took a turn for the worst. Scabs began to form on his leg and it got red and swollen. John was in total discomfort and was feeling lots of pain. His fiancee, Amy, took him to the doctor where he was treated by a general practitioner. His wound was dressed and cleaned and the doctor gave Jon a few painkillers. This was a bad idea, as his infection was much more sever and needed emergency treatment. A couple days after, they found john slumped over in the chair, cold as ice, lifeless! Autopsy revealed that he suffered and died from a blood clot in his lungs caused by the infected tattoo!

4. Strong African Warrior Dies After Lion Tattoo

Amakba Zumbabe was one of the most feared African warriors of the Zulu Tribe in KwaZulu-Natal. He stood 6 feet 3 inches tall and had a natural athletic tone to his body. He was fast, smart and one of the best hunters in Africa. Amakba one day decided that he needed the tattoo of one of Africa's most feared predators, the lion. But the tattoo would not be of any ordinary lion. He wanted the tattoo of the lion which tormented the village for months and eluded the hunters. He wanted an image of the Lion they called "Zinga". Zinga was a dark Maine lion and had slashes and scars all over is body. These scars were spears that pierced his hide but none brought death to this man eater. Zinga had taken at least 15 Villagers in 3 months. This included; women, men, children and even babies. The only trace of their remains were bones which were found scattered all over the jungle. Amakba received his tattoo of Zinga across his chest and he even looked more fearful now. About two days after receiving his tattoo, Amakba began to have cold sweats and nightmares which he nor the village elders could not explain. He dreamed of being transformed into Zinga and then killed by his own villagers.

One night the hunters set a trap for the man eating lion. Amakba would never be apart of what would be a exciting night as he had become sick and too weak to take on a lion. Surely as the night drew, zunga came to feed on the villagers. He fell into a pit which the warriors had dug and placed wooden spikes in. But none pierced him. The warriors then used their spears to finish off the lion. It was joy and celebration in the village as news of the lion spread. They rushed to Amakba to tell him the good news only to see amakba bleeding from wounds that looked like spears. He was dead also. It was believed that Zunga had passed part of himself into Amakba in his tattoo, and Zunga's death would equal the death of Amakba.

Many people have asked this question time after time. Can i die after getting a tattoo? The answer to that is a resounding yes! People can develop complications after receiving tattoos due to infections from the part of the skin which has the tattoo. It can lead to blood clots and organ failures, loss of limbs and death. Always ensure that if you decide to get a tattoo it is done at a registered facility by a professional who adheres to all health guidelines as it relates to tattooing. But even with that, you are who you are and your skin may react differently to the tattoo. If you have received any tattoo and notice any irregularities, go to the doctor immediately. Never sit around with infected tattoos, that may just be your life you are throwing away. Asides from the medical death, there are those who's death just cannot be explained, but if you need to know more about tattoo death and evil spirits, just have a look at the articles below.

For the record, the 23 year old girl died from Meningitis. The second guy died from getting tattooed by a home practicing artist. The third died from mistreatment of a deep wounded infection and the fourth sounds like a made up tall tale. So how did these tattoos kill these people?

Wow I don't know where to start.

First, it's impossible for only the right side of your heart to stop beating. All 4 of the heart chambers are connected so for the right side to stop beating the left side would have also stopped. The heart is also on your left side, unless you have the rare "mirror" condition. Also if getting a tattoo can cause a blood clot (and I'm not sure it could) it would have to be an extremly rare occurence. Getting a tattoo isn't normally a danger to your heart. I know this because I asked my cardiologist if the small hole in my heart (a VSD) would prevent me from getting a tattoo...which it doesn't.

Second why does it matter how healthy a person is before their tattoo? The cases your describe sound like infections which caused the deaths. Healthy people are less likely to die of an infected wound (a tattoo is a wound) but they can still die from infection if it is ignored/left untreated. I highly doubt a well trained doctor would miss the signs of an infection especally one as bad as Spsis. Over all I suspect most of these stories are made up, especally the one that takes place in Africa. Assuming the African was a triable hunter and was as good as described he would already have tribal tattoos and/or ritural scars as it is part of most tribal African cultures.

@always exploring. Many people go to places that have not been passed by health authorities and end up with skin problems and worse.

Am I getting a tattoo? No way ! This was scary. Dirty needles kill!

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on March 01, 2016:

Very good. Sepsis or demon possession? Let me think on that one.
