10 Easy Ways to Get Rid Of Skin Tags Naturally at Home


Skin tags are NOT dangerous or harmful to your health. It is a non cancerous growth on the skin, and generally occurs in regions of the body where there are folds of the skin, such as the neck, armpit or groin. It has been observed that the skin tags are more likely to occur in people of an advanced age and those who are suffering from obesity.

It is true that they are not very attractive to look at, and can taint a person's appearance, if they are visible. But that's no reason to panic and rush into an expensive surgery to remove skin tags or purchasing one of the many cosmetic creams out there.

Many people do not even know what a skin tag look like. It can easily be mistaken for a wart or even a mole. A light growth is shown in the skin, which is generally less than 2 cm in size. They look like small bumps or lumps and can be flat or rounded - or sometimes bind to the skin by a stalk called a peduncle. They are usually the same color as your skin or slightly darker.

Unlike warts, skin tags are not contagious. They are more commonly found in overweight people, pregnant women or people of age above 40. The color and size of skin tags varies greatly.

Home treatments are also inexpensive because we do not have to shell out a lot of money in the accounts of doctors and medicines.

Even if they are not treated, these skin tags fall on their own, but it is always advisable to treat as early as possible. After all, why anyone would have a problem if there is a solution?


Some causes of skin tags

  • Constant friction and rubbing of skin.
  • Diabetes and insulin resistance
  • Pregnancy
  • Infection of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is often associated with skin tag.
  • Hormonal and endocrine disorders can result in the formation of skin tag.
  • The cost of surgical removal of the skin tag is high and therefore, home remedies for removing skin tag is often used.

Home remedies for skin tags

1) Thin Wire

The most common home remedy for skin tags is to tie around the skin with a thin wire and waiting to fall off. This home remedy has been successful since long time.

You can use dental floss for the purpose. It may sound surprising, but it is known to work. All you need to do is tie the floss around the base of the tag.The skin tags will fall off due to the lack of blood supply to the affected area.

But remember, the wire should be sterilized before use. Make sure its clean or you may catch infection. Check daily if everything is alright.

2) Baking Soda and Castor Oil

The use of baking soda and castor oil to remove skin tags is a proven approach. The ingredients are inexpensive and widely available. It is a very popular remedy not only for removing skin tags, but also for moles and warts. Apply the paste 1 to 3 times a day and you can see the difference within one week.

3) Potatoes

Potatoes are easily available and it is good for skin tag removal! Just cut a piece of potato and make it stick to the tag on the skin overnight. A few days of consistent effort causes the tag to blacken and then fall off.

4) Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a popular home remedy for various skin conditions, including skin tags. In the vinegar dip some cotton and then apply the cotton on the tag. This must be done thoroughly and gently for about fifteen minutes. Apple cider vinegar cannot be used to treat on or in the vicinity of the eyelids, as it may cause ocular irritation.

5) Tea Tree Oil

Treating skin tags with tea tree oil only requires that the skin tag be washed with soap and water and then dried. The Tree tea tree oil should be applied in the same manner as above for the vinegar. Apply 2-3 times daily to remove the tag.

6) Garlic

Garlic is a known skin nurse, and is a great remedy for skin conditions like skin tags. Grind the garlic until it is reduced to a pulpy paste, and then apply the paste on the tag and leave it overnight, wrapped by a bandage. In a few days the tag should be gone.

7) Aspirin

Aspirin dissolved in water or baking soda dissolved in water can be tried. In both method, the tag’s size is reduced and eventually fall.

8) Dandelion

Dandelion juice has healing properties and can be applied on the tags for a couple of weeks until they disappear.

9) Bermuda grass juice

Also Bermuda grass juice, which has medicinal properties mixed with turmeric powder, rock salt, basil leaves and Haritaki (Chebulic Myrobalan) - made into a fine paste can be applied and let sit for 30 minutes and then wash thoroughly. This is a home based Indian herbal remedy that reduces skin marks very effectively.

10) Duct tape

Another easy and safe method is to put duct tape directly on the label. Hold it for a few days and it will finally fall.

The ingredients for these treatments are all readily available, and they are cheap. There are no side effects also. After all, it is worth to give these home remedies a shot before you decide to go for a medical procedure.

Oops.. Sorry.. Picked the wrong video.. They say that because we often use dirty or unsterilized materials for the purpose.. Some doctors never vouch for cutting off skin tags ourselves.. Btw thank you for the feedback Rachael and dreamermeg..

I've seen most of these remedies before and the wire or dental floss seems to be the one most people prefer. But the lady doctor in your video says NOT to use either of those because of infection. Still, it is a good article with lots of choices.
