Life is chaotic enough for the modern woman without having to lose sleep over fashion. To help out, here are some tips to make figuring out the fashion game much easier.

I hope they do for you!

1. Wear What Works for You

Find one outfit that actually suits you and build the rest of your wardrobe around it. Some people who consider themselves to be very fashionable simply wear one or two distinct styles. You may consider it your trademark.

2. Put Some Effort into Organizing & Refining Your Closet

Organizing and pruning your closet are necessities when it comes to wearing fashionably. After all, you can't put together a stylish ensemble if you can't see your clothes. As a first step, go through your closet and get rid of everything you don't use or enjoy by selling or giving it out. Then, put what's left in orderly piles. Get the necessary items on hooks and fold the remainder. Having a shoe rack can help you imagine how ensembles will look when you wear each piece. Doing so will make your wardrobe a source of inspiration and put an end to those days when you feel like you have "nothing to wear."

3. Don't Be Afraid to Try Out Men's Clothing

Some great things are in the men's rack. This is especially true if you don't have a body that is typical of a woman in every way. You might be surprised at what you can find in the men's section, like a great oversized pinstripe shirt or a cool T-shirt you can tuck into a skirt. Don't let what it says on the label stop you from trying new things. Also, don't be afraid to try new things just because some clothes are in a different part of the store.

Sometimes we really like a trend, but when we try it on, it just doesn't work with our style. That's fine! "Trends come and go, but style is forever," goes an old saying. This means that the most stylish people are those who are comfortable in their own skin, no matter if their outfit is "in" or not.

5. Balance Is Key

If you're wearing a plain blouse, pair it with a skirt with a print or something else with bright colors. On the other hand, if your skirt or pants are plain, add an eye-catching top to make the overall outfit appear more interesting.

6. Only Purchase Clothes That Fit

It may sound silly, but how many of us have bought jeans or a dress in the hopes that we will get bigger or smaller and fit into them? You shouldn't waste your money on something you can't wear right away or have to work hard to fit into. Buy clothes that fit well, look good on you, and make you feel good right now. This is not to say you shouldn't work on getting to a healthy weight, whether that means adding or losing. But buying clothes that do not currently fit will not help to boost your esteem as you journey to that desired weight goal.

7. Work with Your Skin Tone

Do you ever wonder why you look good in certain hues and not others? It's due to the color of your skin. Filling your closet with the most complementing hues can help you look great no matter what you wear. White, black, grey, silver, and blue are some of the best colors to wear if you have a cool complexion. Warm undertones are best suited to brown, golden, gold, olive, and red designs.

8. Reveal Skin — But Just the Right Amount!

Putting together a gorgeous evening look requires knowing how much flesh to reveal. Showing just one body part might help you get the desired effect. Try a long-sleeved, high-neck mini dress if your biggest asset is your legs. Choose a full-length deep V if you want to flaunt your cleavage. A good rule of thumb is to withhold information rather than provide more when unsure. Sometimes showing too much flesh might come across as trashy while showing very little can still be classy.

9. Splurge Occasionally

You can't match the quality and durability of a high-end leather purse or the luxurious feel of an expensive pair of shoes. Don't be hesitant to invest in luxurious items that you know will serve you well in a variety of settings.

10. Invest in a Little Black Dress — It's Magic!

Having nothing to wear is a common problem, as is discovering that an outfit we were convinced would work doesn't. An LBD is your best bet when you're in a bind over what to wear at the last minute. It's a timeless classic, and you can make it your own by accessorizing with a few key pieces of jewelry and a pair of dramatic shoes.
