Each and every year fans, scouts, and coaches want to identify the “ sleeper pick “ of the NBA draft. This years draft has just concluded on June 23rd, 2022 with arguably the most talented class in the last decade.
The 6'4 three level scorer, Jaden Hardy, was drafted 37th overall by the Dallas Mavericks on draft night via trade from the Sacramento Kings.
In high school Jaden Hardy was a part of the 2021 class where he was ranked Number 2 in the country by ESPN Top 100. He chose to play with the newly constructed “ G-League Ignite “ program that features young prospects who seek to get ready for their upcoming draft. Before beginning his season for Ignite, he was widely considered a lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
He struggled throughout the season which led from his draft stock being picked in the second round by the Dallas Mavericks. Hardy still averaged about eighteen points, five rebounds, and three assists a game at the age of only eighteen years old which is extremely promising.
Many scouts showed concerns with Hardy’s defense as well as playmaking ability. With the recent trade to pair Luka Doncic up with Christian Wood, the Mavericks could have taken Hardy because of his offensive ability and potential in the future.
