What disc golf facilities are there in the UK?
I'm hoping this page will be a quick resource for everything Disc Golf in the UK. To get me started I'm including links and maps of as many courses as I can, both 'real' in the ground courses and google maps of courses local players have planned. If you know of any more please let me know. Plus where to buy discs, and whatever else I can think of to add.
A good resource for Disc golf in the UK is the British Disc Golf Association but whilst its easy to find all the courses, there isn't much info, or easily found course layouts - hopefully this page will complement the BDGA's information
At the moment course info is arranged with the main permanent courses used on the UK Tour first, then the smaller or temporary courses after, in alphabetical order by Town/City. Although the switch from Squidoo to Hubpages has messed this up a bit, so forgive the inconsistency!. Wherever possible there are maps of the course, linked to an appropriate website or facebook group. (T) means that the course doesn't have permanent targets, it requires portable baskets. (trees) means it has tree targets.
This is still a work in progress, please let me know of any courses or park layouts I have missed and I will add them in.
I've been playing Disc Golf for about 4 years, since spring 2011 when I went to my local course Quarry Park with a group of friends. I was instantly hooked, and quickly joined my local club (Quarry Park). I started playing on the UK tour in 2012 as an Intermediate Amateur (the bottom 'division' as it were), and the 2013 and 2014 tour as an Advanced Amateur.
What is Disc Golf?
Disc golf is a disc game in which individual players throw a flying disc into a basket. According to the Professional Disc Golf Association, "The object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc."
In a nutshell its like Golf, but you throw discs rather than hitting balls, you can play it in regular parks rather than special courses (although there are special courses as well) and it's a great way to get a walk and some fresh air, and have a laugh.
