400+ Cool and Unique Boat Names
Unique Name Suggestions for Your New Boat
Coming up with cool names for fishing boats, sailboats or yachts can be an exercise in patience, as it will probably take you a while to come up with a good one. The reason it's so important is that it's kind of an unspoken rule to name your boat; it's practically a requirement to remain in good standing with all the other people who enjoy being out on the water on a regular basis. If your boat doesn't have a name, you're likely to have it brought up quite often by other people who own one.
The large list of cool boat names found below is my humble attempt to help you find that perfect name for your new vessel. Even more unique names for boats can be created by mixing and matching some of the suggestions, just make sure you have the room to place it so all the world can see. I hope you find the article useful and stay safe while on the water!

One of the Best Songs for Sailing
This is one of the most beautiful songs about sailing that I've ever heard, and I know for a fact that some of my friends that have sail boats play this tune whenever they take to the seas. Listening to this with the wind blowing through your hair is a great feeling—one that I highly recommend you try. Going through such an experience can make you want to go out and buy a boat of your very own.

Unusual Boat Names That Stand Out
Phixius: This name means "put in to fight", and my first run-in with this word came from the movie The Replacements (2000). This was the name of Shane Falco's houseboat.
Poseidon: Poseidon was most well known for being the god of the sea and storms in ancient Greek religion. Pairing this name along with cool artwork of a trident (his main accessory) would definitely give you one of the better yacht boat names on the ocean.

Sailing a boat calls for quick action, a blending of feeling with the wind and water as well as with the very heart and soul of the boat itself. Sailing teaches alertness and courage, and gives in return a joyousness and peace that but few sports afford.

Thoughts, Tricks, and Tips for Naming for Your Boat or Ship
- How you plan on using your vessel can really play a big role in naming your new boat. If you're using it for racing, why not throw the word "fast" in there? If it's strictly for relaxing and taking it easy, any words associated with stress relief would be a perfect fit.
- "Here's a yacht I would like to own!", is a term I rarely use, but if I spend a lot of money on a boat, I'm going to make dang sure the name on the side is prominent and long-lasting.
- How many people do you plan on having on your boat? Will it be just you or maybe your family and friends? Plan on throwing lots of parties, or just wasting away the day in silence by yourself?
- The color of your ship can play a crucial role in its naming, especially if you have an unusually bold or unique color scheme. Such colors plus an unusual name will make your on-water getaway much more memorable.

Racing Boat Names Don't Get Any Cooler Than "The Boat"
Good boat name ideas can come from anywhere... especially movies. A cult favorite of mine that is all about the boating lifestyle is One Crazy Summer, starring John Cusack and Demi Moore. The film is all about summertime fun on the water and is a great flick to watch with the whole family. It may even want to make you want to enter a boat race yourself.
