Zion Williamson gathered 25 points and nine rebounds in his most memorable game in more than 17 months and the meeting New Orleans Pelicans never followed in a 130-108 triumph over the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday night in New York in the season opener for the two teams.

Brandon Ingram paced the Pelicans with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting as New Orleans shot 49%. CJ McCollum added 21 while Jonas Valanciunas gathered 15 and 13 rebounds to assist the Pelicans with breaking a seven-game pallet to the Nets.

Kevin Durant scored 32 points yet had little assistance as the Nets started their eleventh season in Brooklyn with a flop. Kyrie Irving was held to 15 points on 6-of-19 shooting as the Nets battled for all intents and purposes the whole game.

Patty Plants added 16 while Nic Claxton contributed 13 and 10 sheets. Royce O'Neale contributed 10 however Ben Simmons got done with only four points and fouled out shortly during his most memorable game since Game 7 of the Eastern Gathering elimination rounds against Atlanta with Philadelphia on June 20, 2021.
