Now that the dust has settled from the NBA Draft we can fully evaluate how we believe how teams did. A lot of youngsters had their names called while most signed with teams after the draft. We saw some teams hit big with great picks while some teams missed badly with head scratching decisions. We will be giving you three teams that we believe that had good drafts and three teams that didn't. Let's get started!!!
The Rockets messed around and got one of the best drafts this year. Whoever let the Rockets grab Jalen Green AND Josh Christopher will end up paying the price as these two have plenty of history together and will be a great duo if together. Plus they added Sengun who was one of the top big man scouted in the draft. With a tough year behind them and a rebuild on the horizon getting one of the top three picks, an underrated prospect, and one of the best big men in the draft certainly helps move that process faster.
The Magic are also in rebuild mode as they traded away Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, and Nikola Vucevic. They luckily had Jalen Suggs fall in their lap and then filled a huge need with forward by drafting Franz Wagner who is a decent two way player. Jalen Suggs was also a top pick in the draft after a sensational March Madness run that ended short. As for Franz the Magic filled a great forward need as Wagner can shoot, score, and play defense.
Look out for the Charlotte Hornets!!! They have had two good drafts in a row now!!!!! The Hornets had James Bouknight fall to them after he was projected a top 8 player. They also grab Kai Jones who was highly scouted in this year's draft and even got an prospect with huge upside in JT Thor. Bouknight will gel great with LaMelo and the rest of the squad as they get more guard depth and expect some highlight with LaMelo and the high flying Kai Jones. JT Thor could be a sneakily good rebounder as well.
The Spurs has an iffy draft after they reached for G Josh Primo. They still had players like Moses Moody, Corey Kispert, and Josh Christopher still on the board. We do like the Joe Wieskamp pick though since it will add much needed shooting for the Spurs who struggled from 3 last year. Let's hope they have a decent offseason.
The Knicks traded their first round pick twice as they finally made their pick at 25 with Quentin Grimes. They missed out on PG talent like Sharife Cooper and others but they just got D Rose back so it is not too bad. Felt like they should have used their 19th or 21st pick though instead of trading it.
What more do we have to say? They were working on trading into the draft but no luck and now no picks to help Anthony Edwards and company. They definitely could have at least traded into the second round but the Wolves missed their opportunity.
Those were our winners and loser of this past NBA Draft. Let us know what you think. Did you agree or disagree with us? Did your team had a good or bad draft? This is article is being made during NBA Free Agency madness so hoping this is a fun offseason.
