Ignore Gun Propaganda & Write Your Representatives

Americans are growing wise to the anti-gun propaganda, and mainstream media lies, which have been painting firearms as an object of evil. The firearm has a proud place in our nation's history, and has unjustly been targeted by marxists and power grabbers to slowly chip away at the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans the nation over. Supreme Court justices have claimed that states can place restrictions upon gun ownership, but the 2nd Amendment states specifically "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

So, if you are a law-abiding citizen, your right to own and bear an arm on your person cannot (according to the Bill of Rights) be restricted by the state or federal government. If there ever was a time for Americans to obtain a state permit, and exercise their 2nd Amendment right to carry a firearm, it's now. It is time to raise your voices and increase the number of law-abiding armed citizens in our country who can protect themselves and protect others from criminals.

Politicians on the Left, and some on the Right, have been absorbed by power and their thirst for more. Their inclination to take power can only be stopped by Americans and their love for freedom. Oppression and corruption within our own nation was a warning from our Founding Fathers, and they knew that the final and last resort to an uncompromising tyrannical government was an armed population. The politicians' efforts to restrict firearm ownership, round capacity, or specific semiautomatic firearms with certain features, are all attempts to weaken the population so that they can bend them to their will.

Otherwise, why take away any firearms from the law-abiding population? You cannot legislate evil actions away from a person, only ensure equal justice under the law so that they can be punished appropriately for the crimes they commit. We have laws preventing criminals from owning firearms. So, besides that law, why are any firearm restriction laws necessary at all? If all law abiding citizens abide by the law, it's illegal for criminals to own firearms, and we prosecute all criminals who violate the law, then we have all of the legislation we need. All law-abiding citizens never use firearms for criminal acts, so why attempt to take firearms away from them at all? The answer is that there is no reason at all for restrictive firearm legislation which targets the law abiding masses. The best response is for Americans to own, legally carry, and train extensively with proper firearm usage, storage, and maintenance.

Legislators need to focus on the problems within their state, and to stop creating junk legislation which offers no value or freedoms to the people of the United States. Congress has become addicted to legislation, acting as if they have to create it or they aren't doing their jobs. The problem is that we have way too many laws already; the answer isn't more laws. Congress needs to be focusing upon how they can better enforce the existing laws in their states. Less is more when it comes to being a member of Congress. They need to keep it simple and attack the low hanging fruit, discover and stamp out fraud, waste, and abuse, and figure out how to more efficiently and effectively enforce common sense laws in their state.

Keep the guns in the hands of your law abiding citizens. In fact, keep more guns in their hands if possible. But, also help the states and federal prosecutors catch and try criminals - especially those who use firearms in the commission of a crime. When you have 100% prosecution rate for criminals who attempt to buy a firearm or circumvent the background check system with straw purchasers, then you can claim that you're doing your jobs. I think that if we keep sending them quotes from our Founding Fathers regarding firearms, and remind them that our natural born right to life - and the ability to defend it - supersedes all other rights, they will eventually get the message.

Our Founding Fathers' Well Documented Intent: A Free & Armed America

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined..."
- George Washington, First Annual Address, to both House of Congress, January 8, 1790

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
- Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759

Get Certified, Train Responsibly, & Carry Often

Being a responsible member of the Concealed Carry community is probably the most important aspect of carrying, second only to defending your life and the life of others. First, you are taking responsibility of defending your own life. Second, you are taking resonsibility of defending the lives of others. However, doing both of these must be done with utmost care and consideration. You need to ensure that you abide by the laws of your state, and that you must train regularly to ensure accuracy and proficiency for when you must make the decision one day to draw your weapon and use it. Also, once you've completed your basic concealed carry training, take an advanced course! The more proficient and trained you are in different scenarios, the better protected you are legally during an actual shooting situation. Remember, better trained means better protected.

Protect Yourself and Family from Litigation

One of the unfortunate aspects of being a Concealed Carry owner, is the fact that criminals are allowed to target their victims with civil suits if their victims defend themselves. If a persons carries responsibly, and uses their firearm responsibly in self-defense, then they never have to worry about being prosecuted by a State's Attorney's Office. However, they still have to worry about the criminal or the criminal's family filing a retaliatory civil lawsuit. Yep, you can shoot a criminal lawfully in self defense and then get sued in civil court.

It is extremely important that you immediately purchase insurance which protects you from liability, as well as provides a legal defense against cases of wrongful prosecution. There are numerous concealed carry gun owners which have been falsely accused of wrong doing and finding themselves in court. Ensuring that you are covered by organizations such as the USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association) is extremely important. You simply pay your dues for the year, and they provide you coverage as well as keep you informed upon legal actions, proposed legislation which may impact you, and up-coming electoral candidates who do or do not support the 2nd Amendment.

Taurus G2C

An amazing gun, at an affordable price, makes the Taurus G2C an amazing value for any concealed carry permit holder. If you're looking for your first concealed carry pistol, and the greater than $500 price point is currently too much for you, then the G2C is definitely the gun for you. Now, it did fall a little shorter on the other models in regards to included options. For one, the controls are one sided, which means that lefties are left out or have to adjust. There aren't any optional grip sizes which come with it, it has plastic sights, and it came in a cardboard box. That, combined with the short trigger reach, means that it will take some adjusting to if you're previous guns have a further reach. With all of that being said, you can obtain a concealed carry pistol, which includes two magazines, for just over $300 and which shoots as well as its $600 competitors!

The Glock 26 Gen5 arrives on the scene with a new barrel, the GMB (Glock Marksman Barrel). It has an ambidextrous slide lock lever, making it friendly for left handed shooters, and comes with two magazines. It offers steel and night sight options, as well as an extended magazine and Pearce Grip extenders. The Glock 26 performed exemplary, as we have grown accustomed to. However, some of its competitors performed just as well. With its 10 or 12 round capacity, it's not at the top of the list of round capacity, but it provides you with more than enough rounds to send down range and engage multiple assailants. Glock has always produced high quality weapons, and are extremely well known for their reliability. Plus, at $500, it was offered at a pretty reasonable price for someone looking to obtain a concealed carry firearm from an established manufacturer with a good reputation.

The Springfield Armory XD-9 Mod 2 Sub-Compact is one of our top choices on this list. It is affordable - retailing for $565, has a double-stacked design which offers people with large hands a better feel, and performs at a superior level far beyond shooting 1,000 rounds. It has superior magazine capacity, easy to access controls, and has a red fiber-optic sight. The weapon shoots amazingly consistent and fits a larger hand hand like a glove. As a lot of concealed carry sub-compacts tend to fit in larger hands like a toy, this was an amazingly good surprise. Springfield armory also has excellent customer service, and will cater to you if you have an issue with your firearm.

For those of you which haven't seen a Ruger in a while, or possibly even haven't seen one that you liked, then the SR9c is definitely a good time for you to revisit. It's loaded with safety features - Ambidextrous Manual Safety Lever, Trigger Safety Lever, and a Loaded Chamber Indicator behind the ejection port! The rear sight is elevation adjustable, it is consistently accurate, and has a reversible backstrap. The barrel does rattle a bit when the slide is pulled back, and the grip could have been slightly better designed for better grip control, but again it shot amazingly consistent without any malfunctions, and we love the dovetail like design, but you must be careful when inserting the magazine as you can pinch your finger between the magazine and the bottom of the grip frame.

The Beretta APX Compact was engineered for Military and Police who need to carry concealed, but want a similar feel and performance of their primary duty pistol. The APX has an amazing features list - End User Removable Serialized Chassis (can be easily modified with replaceable grip frame housings), and Superior Controllability & Ergonomics consisting of - Low Bore Axis, Ambidextrous Slide Catch, Reversible Magazine Release, Aggressive Slide Serrations, and a 6 pound trigger with an audible short reset. The safety features for the APX consists of Striker Deactivation Button, Firing Pin Block Safety, and a Trigger Safety.

If you haven't owned a Fabrique Nationale pistol or firearm as of yet, it is probably due to the fact that they were beyond your price point. However, the FNS-9C is an extremely affordable FN pistol at $600 which offers the benefit of the reliability of their brand, and includes three magazines to boot. It has two backstrap options of flat or arched, for those with larger hands, and offers an extended magazine basepad with a finger extension. It fires extremely smooth and accurate, offers amazing grip texture on the grip and the slide, and arrives in a molded polymer case. All in all, they put on a good show with the elegance of the pistol and the case, but the pistol actually delivered on its accuracy, malfunction free operation, and consistent performance.

The Sig Sauer P365 is definitely a top contender of this list. Even though it lacks ambidextrous controls, its superior performance, small size, and its expanded patented magazine with increased capacity, offer so much value that you almost don't notice any of the short-comings. First, it comes with Sig Sauer's X-Ray night sights. It handles and carries like a smaller pistol, but is extremely comfortable, easy to operate, and offers some of the tightest grouping of the bunch. It fit well both into my hand, which I preferred the extended magazine for for my large hands, but also was extremely comfortable for my wife's small hands. It shoots so well, that sometimes you have to pinch yourself and remember that it's not a dream.

The Smith and Wesson MP9 Shield was designed to be a concealed carry pistol which offers a litany of full-sized features. It offers a Ported Barrel & Slide, PC Tuned Action, Manual Thumb Safety, Tritium Night Sights, Front Slide Serrations, Slim Concealed Carry Compact Profile, Polymer Frame with Embedded Stainless Steel Chassis System which means that you have steel-on-steel contact between the slide and the frame, and two magazines - one standard and one extended with a finger groove. It also comes with a Performance Center Cleaning Kit! At $623, it performs extremely well and was well accepted by Smith and Wesson loyalists, but does only offer an 8 or 9 round capacity. While smaller, it has an amazing feel in your hands. But you can feel the action a little more than some of its heavier competitors on this list.

The Walther Arms PPQ SC (Sub Compact), like its big brother, is definitely a performer. For larger hands, you definitely want the extended 15 round magazine offers a little extra finger room for it to fit comfortably into your hand. The optional larger backstrap also allows you to get a more fuller feel within your hands, allowing a larger grip to achieve a better grip from holding a subcompact pistol. The magazine release is reversible for left handed shooters, it has ambidextrous slide lock levers, and amazing grip when actuating the slide with its larger serration on the front and rear of the slide. Like its big brother, it shoots straight and true, and we had no malfunctions.

At the most expensive price point on our list at $720, the HK VP9SK is definitely well worth the investment - you definitely get what you pay for in this case. The grip is ergonomically designed, it is extremely accurate, the small protrusions at the rear of the slide allows for an extra easy thumb index finger slide pull, or a one-handed slide pull with your feet or legs. The magazine release is a paddle that is molded into the rear of the trigger well, making it harder to actuate. However, you honestly have to go looking to find things that you don't like about this firearm. It fits so well, both into large and small hands, and shoots so clean and accurate - without malfunction - that you almost want to save this for your "special occasion" carry pistol. James Bond shoots a Walther, but I think with the VP9SK, he may want to switch!
