Just twelve days before his 28th birthday, and hours before the Angels were scheduled to play the Texas Rangers, Tyler Skaggs died in his hotel room in Hilton Southlake, Texas. According to the Southlake Police Department, they received a call at 2:18pm on July 1, 2012. He was found unconscious when the police arrived at the location and was pronounced dead at the scene.
