Now you can build this cute wagon or pony cart from a complete hardware kit.
Don’t have a pony? No problem you can even choose between a tractor tongue or pony shaft.
People who have ponies, goats or a garden tractor are always on the lookout for a small wagon to pull the kids and grandkids around the yard or farm.
Pony carts are also fun for, county fairs, parades and pony rides at birthday parties.
Up until now no one really sold the running gear and hardware kit to build pony cart like this.
The problem is most readymade pony carts are very expensive as much as $1200 and they are not just easy to find.
Pony carts sold online also come with an expensive truck freight bill that can drive up the cost another $300 or more.
Add brakes and other options and that little pony ride becomes pretty darn expensive.
All you need is the plywood, and paint, all the bolts, nuts and metal hardware is in the kit.
The kit does not come with plans, but the site does have several different pictures of the wagon, as well as a picture with the general measurements.
Just the wagon gear can be purchased if you want to build another type of wagon. People build hobby farm and yard wagons from this gear.
This hardware and wagon gear kit from Cottage Craft Works is all UPS shippable. It even has an optional collapsible pony shaft that ships UPS as well.
The pony shaft is the metal tongue that hooks on to the wagon and has two bars that extend out to run down both sides of the pony or goat to hitch them to a harness.
This Complete Wagon Kit features the complete metal hardware kit and running gear with large 16" x 400-8 Pneumatic Tires.
The heavy metal frame is designed for a load Capacity of 1200 lbs. You can choose at no additional cost between fifth wheel steering (pictured) or automobile steering.
The wagon box measures 32-1/2” wide X 60” long. An optional 12" extender bar is also available to extend the length of the wagon frame from 60” to 72”
Band brakes can be added as an option, and the wagon kit allows you to select between a tractor pull tongue and or a pony hitch shaft.
The tongue can be left off if you wish to make your own.
Extra seat hardware is also an option to make it a two seat wagon, the 12” extension is recommended to give enough leg room.
Cottage Craft Works also sells the pony harness to use on the pony cart. You will also find hardware kits to build buckboard benches and authentic working wagon seats.
Other kits include a miniature buckboard wagon and many furniture kits such as a reproduction J & P Coats thread spool Cabinet.
You can purchase the pony wagon and other hardware kits at Cottage Craft Works .com

Where is a link to purchase these kits?
Mary Wickison from Brazil on July 04, 2013:
That is so cute. Where I live, I have seen donkeys and horses pulling carts. Never goats, in fact, our goats were so stubborn it would be quicker for me to pull the cart. I have seen sheep pulling a similar cart, though.
What a wonderful way to get around.
