Nets and Lakers Arms Race

Welcome to Baller Central!!!! Basketball and Football articles created by Phil and Akeem

Well guys, there have been some big moves in the NBA lately. These 2 moves have been pretty big and newsworthy. So here's our opinions on the big buyout moves....

Nets add Blake Griffin and LA12

Akeem’s Take

I like this move a lot. It gives the Nets a solid starter in Blake, and someone that could easily come off the bench and score 20 points with Aldridge. The funny part is, no one seems to have a problem with it. I don't hear many people calling them a "super team" even though everyone in the picture above has been selected to an all star game multiple times and have been named, or close to being named MVP of the league. But hey, I'm just reporting what I see. Or don't see in this case.

Phil’s Take

I’m really starting to get sick of this. It wasn’t bad enough that the Nets added a third superstar in James Harden but now they add Blake Griffin who appears to be dunking again but not like his old self and Lamarcus Aldridge who adds a lot of help to the Nets big man situation. Nets have trouble on defense so what do they do? ADD MORE OFFENSE! We should have saw this coming with a system that Mike Dantoni is involved in. I still don’t have them beating the Lakers due to their lack of defense but come on how many all Stars or former all stars do you need?

Lakers add Drummond

ANDRE DRUMMOND!!!! That's it. I'm done. Nothing else needs to be said. He's still in the prime of his time in the league. So it was a really good move. The man is a literal walking double-double. Couple that with Anthony Davis and LeBron once he's back at full health and this is a scary team. I can't wait to see how the addition is going to unfold for the playoffs.

Phil’s Take

This was the right move to help stay with the arms race with the Nets. They Nets don’t have anyone on their roster to guard Anthony Davis and now They have two big men to worry about because Andre Drummond is coming to Tinseltown. So they better hope they make all their shots because no one is out rebounding ANTHONY DAVIS AND ANDRE DRUMMOND. Plus they have that paint locked up even more now so the Nets better work on their threes and mid range shots now.

NBA Finals?

These two teams are now the favorites to play in the NBA Finals this year.

Akeem’s Take

This is tough. I respect both teams for their moves made. Obviously each team is a powerhouse and a serious force to be reckoned with. I can't really call it. But I think the Lakers will have to put in some serious work. I would still say Lakers in 7. This is essentially a clash of the titans. Harden has been playing very well this season despite not having another one of the major star players present. And the depth on the Lakers is just ridiculous. So I would love to se this take place. Mind you, this is coming from someone whos favorite team isn't going to make the finals. I'm a realist...

Phil’s Take

LAKERS IN 6 if this matchup does indeed happen. AD and Drummond will be too much for the Nets plain and simple. The Nets lack of defense will haunt them. They will be out-rebounded AND outscored in the paint. Those jump-shots aren’t always going to fall and when they don’t the Lakers will be there to rebound and capitalize.

Let's hope that these teams can deliver with the big expectations that people have set on them. I have no doubt that they can. Because look at the material. Like honestly, the amount of talent on these two teams alone, is enough to outplay 80% of the league. And that's without each teams star player...
