NXT Continues to Showcase the Future: Part 2

Screenwriter. Check out all of my past WWE articles on my profile!

Karrion Kross (and Scarlett)

The level of talent that NXT continues to display each Wednesday night on the USA Network is absolutely incredible. Over the years, there have been MANY stand-outs that the fans just seem to gravitate towards. However, I don't think I've ever seen somebody come into NXT and completely take over as much as Karrion Kross has thus far.

The moment you realize that him and Scarlett are about to enter the arena, you stop whatever it is you're doing and just become unglued to your television screen. The level of captivation that those two demand once their on-screen is awe-inspiring. From their entrance, their theme music, their facial expressions, and overall presence, they make you truly understand how much they mean business, and that you're witnessing something special before your very eyes.

A solid presentation is really essential when it comes to being a WWE/NXT superstar, however, you need to be able to back that up once you're competing inside the squared circle. I think we all know that Karrion Kross certainly has that part of the job handled though. The guy is one of the most dominating in-ring competitors you could ever watch as he tortures his opponents like he's a predator devouring his prey.

I have no doubt in my mind that we'll all be falling and praying to Kross, especially if he's accompanied by the mischievous Scarlett every step of the way, for a very, very long time. Speaking of time, it's only a matter of time before Karrion Kross and Scarlett take over the WWE and become the most feared duo in company history.

Tick tock...

Shotzi Blackheart

When it comes to being a professional wrestler, standing out from the rest of the pack is extremely crucial in making yourself into a star. Whether it's being loud and outgoing, dying your hair green, or even running people over with a small tank, you have to find ways to make yourself known. Shotzi Blackheart is one of the most original and unique characters the women's division of NXT has ever seen.

From her outgoing and vibrant personality to her entertaining in-ring skills, Shotzi has quickly become a huge fan favorite since her arrival just a short while ago. Having already competed in the women's Royal Rumble match AND a WWE Women's tag team title match alongside Tegan Nox against the likes of Bayley and Sasha Banks, Shotzi is rapidly gaining the experience needed to shine bright in the WWE.

I have a humongous feeling that this fiery young woman will eventually become the talk of not only NXT, but of the entire pro wrestling world. She has the look, the personality, and ultimately, the in-ring abilities to be one of the top women in all of WWE someday.

She's different. She's unique. She's your daddy. She's Shotzi Blackheart.

Isaiah "Swerve" Scott

Whose house is it? Swerve's house.

This talented up-and-comer named Isaiah "Swerve" Scott has been raising the eyebrows and dropping the jaws of every member of the NXT Universe for months now. Every single time he steps into a ring, regardless of who his opponent is or what show he's on, this guy just lights up the screen and steals the whole show. His matches over the past year against the likes of Tony Nese, Angel Garza, and now Santos Escobar have been absolutely phenomenal, and made you realize just how GOOD he is inside that ring.

Over the past number of months, he has been hands down one of my personal favorite in-ring competitors to watch in the entire WWE. I just know without a shadow of a doubt that I'm not the only one who feels that same exact way about him.

I expect Swerve to continue on with this greatness of his until he finally showers his shoulder with some gold. The man has what it takes to become one of the biggest stars in the company, and I'm very much looking forward to watching him do just that in the years to come.

Dexter Lumis

Perhaps the most bizarre superstar under the WWE umbrella, Dexter Lumis has certainly made his presence felt on the black and yellow brand since his arrival. He's the kind of character that you just never know what he's thinking or what he's going to do next. Even with one look on his face, you become captivated by his mystique to the point where you just CAN'T look away from him.

The building of this character is so important in my opinion, as Dexter Lumis could potentially become a massive star in the WWE. With hints of The Undertaker and Randy Orton installed within him, I see Dexter Lumis as one of the most dominant and breathtaking superstars in all of WWE history. He has the look, such a unique character, and the unconventional in-ring talent to back it all up.

I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing what's next for this strange individual. All I know is that the rest of the superstars on all three brands better prepare themselves for Dexter Lumis...

Mercedes Martinez

All I can say is FINALLY!

I've been waiting for the signing of Mercedes Martinez to NXT for such a long time, and it's finally happened. The level of talent that this woman possesses is absolutely insane. She's wrestled all over the world in basically every wrestling promotion you could think of, and that's the kind of experience needed within a brand like NXT. Although she's now affiliated with The Robert Stone Brand, that connection is just going to make her even more dominant, as she has two people in Robert Stone and Aliyah watching her back.

The very first person I thought of when it came to potential opponents for Mercedes was Rhea Ripley. I have been drooling at the thought of watching those two dominant females destroy one another, and I finally get the chance to see it this week....inside a steel cage!

When it comes to the career of Mercedes Martinez, all I can think of is one word, and that word is "respect". She's here in NXT now and I have a strong feeling that she's going to put every single woman in WWE on notice. Mercedes is coming, ladies and gents, and she's coming for blood and gold...

Legado Del Fantasma

The surging new group known as Legado Del Fantasma has been demolishing every single superstar who gets in their way over the past few months. Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoza, and Joaquin Wilde together have made their presence felt in such a HUGE way. In my eyes, they've raised the Cruiserweight division to a whole new level and have made the title much more important and fully relevant again.

Individually, each member inside the squared circle is extraordinary. They all perform maneuvers inside that ring that just make your eyes pop out of your head and leave you wondering how a human being could do what you just witnessed them do. Collectively, they're an extreme force to be reckoned with, and could potentially become one of the greatest factions in WWE history, if given the time and opportunity to do so.

I see these three guys continuing on their path of destruction and becoming essential ingredients to either the Raw or SmackDown roster sooner rather than later. With the leadership of Escobar, the sky's the absolute limit for Legado Del Fantasma, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what's next on their agenda in the next few months.

Cameron Grimes

If you don't know who this guy is, he'll certainly be the one to scream out, "Cameron Grimes!" for you.

Grimes has been the epitome of the annoying heel that you just can't wait to see get punched in the mouth, and he plays that part extremely well. Since arriving in NXT, he's gotten on the nerves of literally every person he's been within 20 feet of, but you can't deny the simple fact that he's a workhorse inside the squared circle. He could GO with just about anybody and has proven time and time again how good he truly is. Although he talks a lot about how good he is, he undoubtedly backs that talk up to the fullest extent each and every night.

It's only a matter of time before Cameron Grimes is labeled as one of the most successful heels in the industry. With his cunning and conniving ways in order to win matches, he's certainly on the path towards grabbing some championship gold to put around his waist. Be prepared to see this man on your television screens while on WWE programming for years and years to come.

And what's this man's name again?

Indi Hartwell

It's no big secret that Indi Hartwell has a bright future ahead of her. It's just a matter of when that time comes so that she can finally prove it to the world.

Over the last number of months, we've seen Indi put on some stellar matches against the likes of Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, and the aforementioned Shotzi Blackheart. Her heel-ish attitude and cocky personality inside AND outside the ring is incredibly essential to her success. You can tell that she has all the intangibles needed to become a great star within the WWE. It's just about finding that special something to make herself stand out a little bit more. Whether it be a certain catchphrase, a certain maneuver inside the ring, or even a certain rivalry that could elevate her stock in NXT, I believe Indi will find that certain something and skyrocket towards the top of the division.

The amount of talent that Indi Hartwell has is completely limitless, or shall I say, impressive, and I'm very excited to see her reach her full potential by the time 2021 arrives.

Jake Atlas

You want to talk about exciting up-and-coming talent? Jake Atlas defines that phrase perfectly. As soon as he started performing in the Cruiserweight tournament a few months back, you could instantly see the crazy amount of talent the guy has. While seeing all the different kinds of moves he has within his arsenal, you just start asking yourself, "What CAN'T this guy do?"

Atlas is such a multifaceted performer inside the ring that you just KNOW that his future is secure in WWE. I've been dreaming about a Jake Atlas vs. Rey Mysterio match for the past number of months now, and I'm really itching to see that battle go down before Rey decides to hang the boots up. I also think about matches against the likes of Ricochet, Angel Garza, and Seth Rollins and how phenomenal those battles could be as well.

Jake Atlas has the utmost potential to become something great within the WWE. His in-ring ability is completely unparalleled and he will DEFINITELY be someone you'll still be watching in the distant future on WWE programming.

Ever Rise

When it comes to tag teams within the WWE, there aren't many that can say they've been together for more than a decade. Matt Martel and Chase Parker can.

The duo known as Ever Rise have been making their presence felt on NXT and 205 Live for the past few months and have really opened my eyes to how talented they are. Whether it be their tandem offense while in the ring, or their amazing promo work afterwards, everything these two are doing lately has been pure gold. There's a spot missing within the WWE roster of a tag team like these two guys, and I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing where they go from here.

As I just said, their promo work is top-notch and I truly believe that those mic skills alone can definitely uplift their careers to the next level. They're THAT good. I won't be surprised at all if Ever Rise snatches a spot on the main roster within this year, and become one of the most entertaining heel tag teams that we've seen in a long time. No conspiracy theories here---just straight up facts!

With these types of talents leading the way, there's NO doubt in my mind that the future of the WWE is in the best hands possible. All of these superstars that I listed above are special in their own way, and have the potential to become something HUGE on the main roster someday. It's only a matter of when!
