Welcome to Baller Central!!!! Basketball and Football articles created by Phil and Akeem
We're back at it again with our week 4 reactions!!! This week had a lot of ups and downs. So let's dive right in and get started!
Buccaneers at Patriots 19-17
Let‘s start off by saying this wasn’t the game everyone was expecting. Many were expecting the Bucs to blowout the Patriots as Tom Brady returns to Foxboro. That wasn’t the case though. Tom was stifled by the Patriots defense which lead to Leonard Fournette taking control. The Bucs decimated secondary even with Richard Sherman was giving up yards and plays to Mac Jones and company. The Bucs rushing and timely throws helped them edge out a win Sunday night. As for New England even though they lost there was a lot of positives to come out from this. They played the defending champs tough and they held Tom Brady in check by holding him without a TD. Mac Jones still looked like a rookie but impressed a lot of people with his decision making and throws. JJ Taylor had a costly fumble to open the second half as well. The game came down to a Nick Folk 56 yard attempt which I believe the offense should have stayed on and tried to get a closer try especially in the rain. Overall a game New England should be proud of despite losing and the same mistakes haunted them like fumbling. Guaranteed they will be a better team each and every week.
Akeem's Pick: Raiders v. Chargers 28-14
This game was a big deal for me personally. Both of my fantasy leagues were an extreme longshot as far as me winning. In one league, going into Monday I was down by 25 points. But thanks to Austin Ekeler putting the team (Chargers and my fantasy team) on his back, I was fine. And he also helped them secure a win!!! It was a good game to watch because I feel like it could have gone longer, well bigger as far as score. But it showed two QBs that are out here just doing what they were meant to do. Play football! Derek Carr did what was needed to try and get his team the upper hand. But in the end, the Chargers did what was necessary.
Phil’s Pick: Cardinals at Rams 37-20
Kyler Murray and the Cards came out firing Sunday afternoon!!!!!!! They are now the only remaining undefeated team left in the NFL. Their defense held the explosive Rams offense in check and Kyler the bad toddler kept the Rams defense of their heels and put up 38 on their heads. If the Cards can play like this regularly and in the playoffs they could be hoisting a Lombardi in the close future. As for LA one of those rough losses for a really talented team on offense and defense. Stafford had his worst game of the season as the Rams came down to earth for a sec. They are still heavy favorites to win it all just one of those off weeks.
Akeem's Pick: Dallas v. Carolina 36-28
Wow!!!! I'm not going to say I'm surprised that we won (because I fully expected it). But I am surprised that we had as big of a lead that we did. Even if we did end up winning by less than 10 points. It was so nice to see Dak getting new people involved in the offense. I'm glad Cedrick Wilson got the chance to get involved. Our defense definitely had a lot to do with our great gameplay. Trevon Diggs ended the day with 2 interceptions. And although they allowed Sam Darnold to run as much as he wanted, they had some key stops that prevented the Panthers from scoring. Micah Parsons was definitely showing why he was drafted. And we ended with 5 sacks on the game. That's a big deal. Shows we're finally working on our problems and how to fix them.
