Welcome to Baller Central!!!! Basketball and Football articles created by Phil and Akeem
Wild wild week 3 we had ladies and gentlemen. The Chiefs are last in their division, Steelers struggle against Cincy, and Rams light up Bucs. A lot of action happened and here we are to recap it from our side.
Saints @ Patriots 28-13
The only positive was that it could have ended a lot worse. The Saints missed two field goals and some scoring opportunities. As for the negatives for New England….. biggest one is they lost a key piece to the offense in receiving back James White who has done so much for the Pats during his career. Aside from that they had three turnovers, a bunch of penalties and mistakes on Special Teams. All of these uncharacteristic for the Patriots. Now they play in week 4 a Bucs team led by former Pats QB and legend Tom Brady who lost to the Rams. It’s going to be an interesting Sunday night next week.
Eagles @ Cowboys 21-41
Well, well, well...I don't see anyone talking about how my team ran over the Eagles. No one? No one at all? But hey, it happened. This game started off on such a high note. After a few short passes and Zeke getting a breakaway for a run, Dak threw a 44 yard bomb to CeeDee Lamb. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite receivers. But this game was absolutely indicative of what I want to happen on a regular basis. Because I fully believe this is what we can do at full strength. I have so many things I want to say about this but I would have multiple paragraphs about it. So now we have to prep for the next few games and get ready to make our push towards the top of our division. At this point, its ours to lose.
Phil’s Pick: Buccaneers @ Rams 24-34
America‘s game of the week did not disappoint!!!!!! Rams got the early season W to send TB12 to NE Sunday night fuming. This was very much a possible NFC Championship matchup. Rams looked good on all sides of the ball offense, defense, and special teams. Sony Michel and the running game looked nice as Matt Stafford carved up the Bucs D with Cooper Kupp and others. The Bucs defense looks nothing like it did in the playoffs. Plus injuries are a key factor. Expect TB to be rolling into Foxboro with a head full of smoke and to be making some noise against a vulnerable Pats team that gave up three turnovers to the Saints.
Akeem's Pick: Baltimore Ravens v. Detroit Lions
Now I'm not a giant fan of either team as a whole. I think Baltimore has some great pieces in their QB Lamar Jackson. And I think if Jared Goff can get back to how he was in LA, he would be doing some serious damage. I actually chose this game because of the record breaking field-goal that Justin Tucker made. It really made me stop and think about the greatness that he possesses. On a day where we saw an attempt at the league's longest field goal (68 yards by Matt Prater, Arizona Kicker), it was nice to see some history be attempted and actually done. Overall I think this game showed that both teams have things they need to work on. And I'm not saying it will be an easy road but it's definitely possible for them to get their stuff together and do something for the rest of the season.
That’s a wrap for week three!!!! We are excited for Pats and Bucs and other games for week four make sure you tune in Thursday on stereo to hear our week 3 recap and week four predictions!!!!
