Welcome to Baller Central!!!! Basketball and Football articles created by Phil and Akeem
The season of COVID has officially ended. Despite there being a pandemic, a president change, and a slew of other things going on in the world, we made it through!!! So sit back, relax, and get ready for the end of the year recap!!! Enjoy!
Phil: My biggest letdown of the season was the Pittsburgh Steelers. They started out 11-0 on the season then ended the season losing most of their games and ended up losing in the first game of the playoffs to the Cleveland Browns. Their elite defense that appeared in the regular season failed to show up when it mattered the most.... in the playoffs. The Steelers forced no turnovers or sacks on the Browns as thats what they did well in the regular season. Plus Big Ben became a liability but is Pittsburgh’s only option at this point. Their offseason will have so many questions like what to do with Big Ben and do they let Tik Tok star Juju Smith Schuster walk.
Akeem: Being a Cowboys fan has never been easy. But this year was especially heartbreaking. Obviously I want my team to win every time they step on the field. But it just seemed like we never quite got it together. Then once we did, our star got injured. Watching Dak go down almost bought a tear to my eye. After that happened, I knew for sure our season was done for. So I just had to grin and bear it... Ugh
Phil: With the biggest letdown being the Pittsburgh Steelers it’s only right to have the team that knocked them out to be the biggest surprise of the season. The Cleveland Browns made it to the playoffs ending their drought with a 11-5 record and having their coach win Coach of the Year. Baker showed heavy improvement after last year and Nick Chubb showed why he was an elite back even after missing games with a MCL injury. They did lose OBJ for the season with an ACL injury but they managed to make the playoffs and almost beat the chiefs in the second round.
Akeem: This was a big season for Cleveland. Did they make it far? Not to some. But they definitely had a big impact and made a name for themselves. I see big things coming for this team. A few of there players helped me in fantasy, so I definitely hope that continues. Lol. But in all seriousness, they had a really good year. And they can only go up.
Phil: For me it was the game between the Cardinals and Bills where Josh Allen connects with Stefon Diggs for a late TD and then Kyler Murray drives the Cardinals down the field and throws a last second hail Mary to WR DeAndre Hopkins who catches it over 3 players for the win.
Akeem: I'd probably also have to go with the Cardinals game. I like games that aren't a blowout. Unless of course, the cowboys are playing the giants. Then that's a different story. Lol. But for real, this game was amazing. I don't think I was able to watch it in its entirety, but what I did see was awesome. Then for the game to come down to one throw??? Absolutely bananas. It proved what Kyler could really do when he was needed. And it proved why DeAndre Hopkins is, in my opinion, the best receiver in the league!
Phil: My favorite player to watch this year was Vikings RB Dalvin Cook. I had him in my fantasy league so you know I was paying close attention to him whenever he played. He would go off for crazy performances all season long helping me win matchups. Once this man his 100% it will be a scary sight for the rest of the league.
Akeem: This is tough because so many players made an impact on the season. But I would probably have to go with D Hop. You would think after leaving the Texans, his stock would drop. Or maybe he would feel a little defeated because he left a team that he was playing so well at and had a great rapport with. But he actually played very well and he stayed relevant. Also didn't hurt that he was on my fantasy team so it was nice to get the points every time he touched the ball.
Advice for Patriots
My advice would be simple. FIND OUT YOUR IDENTITY!!!!! Figuring out the offense post Brady will be tough but once they find it then they can start building towards it and become competitive once again. It all starts with who will be QB and after last year it is clear that Cam or Stidham is not the answer. Will they find him in the draft or will they trade or sign their new QB? Only time will tell.
Advice for Cowboys
GET DAK A CONTRACT!!!!! Plain and simple. We need to keep this man and pay him what he is worth. Now I don't see that happening because I know what he's asking for and doubt Jerry will ever go for it. But how do you guys expect to win if you can't even keep all of your players happy? I think with the new cap rule, a lot of teams are going to find themselves in a situation they didn't plan on being in. Signing all these players to huge contracts isn't helping if they aren't producing. At least with Dallas, yeah we have other offensive threats, but the focal point of the team is the QB. And I'm sorry but I don't even see us going .500 with Andy Dalton as the starter. That's not to say he isn't good. Because I remember when he played on Cincinnati and they were actually a decent team. But it's not going to cut it now. We need to keep Dak. End of story!
Well guys. There you have it. The season is over. The Patriots, I mean Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have won the super bowl, and a bunch of things are still in question. We hope you enjoyed our little breakdown of the season. See you guys next time! And also, go Cowboys!!!
