NFL Quick Takes

It may not be football season, but things have certainly been heating up around the league. Here's a few of our quick takes happening in and around the NFL.

Jared Goff and Matt Stafford Swap

Rams send Jared Goff, two first round picks, and a third for Lions Matt Stafford.

Phil’s Take

You can say this trade is a win-win for both teams. The Rams get an upgrade at QB and the lions get a decent QB plus picks. Matt Stafford comes out as a huge winner in this trade as he gets an upgraded O Line and way better defense to actually give him time and help. Stafford could be a sneaky Fantasy Football favorite with the explosive Rams offense. As for Goff..... I hope he can run fast and throw quick because with the Lions O-Line he will look like Pat Mahomes in the Super Bowl every snap.

Akeem’s Take

I'm not sure how I feel about this trade honestly. I like both of the players. Each of them offer something special to whatever team they are on. Stafford is MVP caliber when he wants to be. Only problem is he hasn't had a good receiving core since Megatron retired. Well not a consistent one at least. And Goff, when he has the weapons, can clearly make the plays. Evident by the points he would get me in fantasy on a weekly basis (even if he was on the bench).

Carson to Colts

Eagles trade Carson Wentz to Colts for 3rd round pick and conditional second round pick.

Phil’s Take

This one is easy. COLTS WIN EAGLES LOSE. Colts get a phenomenal QB who needs a change of scenery while the Eagles eat a bunch of dead cap space and get a 3rd rounder and conditional second which they could’ve got a lot more for Wentz. With one of the best O-Lines in the NFL Wentz could prove that he still has that talent he has shown years prior his injuries.

Akeem’s Take

As much as I don't like Philly, this was not a smart move by them. You give away your QB that is the whole reason your team is relevant currently. But hey, who am I to tell you what to do? I just hope they don't regret this decision somewhere down the line.

Kid Disrespects Cam

During a 7v7 tournament held at a camp ran by current free agent QB Cam Newton one of the kids there trash talked Cam Newton.

Phil’s Take

That kid needs to learn some respect. The kid should be there to learn as much as he can from Cam because that kid is trying to get to the NFL which not a lot of high school kids get to do. Plus with someone’s resume like Cam the last thing you should do is taunt and disrespect him. It’s common knowledge you learn and respect the people who came before and paved the way.

Akeem’s Take

I haven't actually seen this video, or even heard about it. But for anyone that has anything negative to say about Cam, they can quiet down right now! He might not have had the best season, but we aren't going to act like Cam still isn't good. That's what we aren't doing on Beyonce's internet. He did so much for the sport, redefining what QB's should and shouldn't be able to do in that position. So no. Cam Newton slander will not be tolerated. Even if he does play for a team I'm not a huge fan of.

Washington’s QB Controversy

WFT QB Alex Smith recently said that he “threw a wrench in the team’s QB plans last season”. They didn’t believe he could come back and messed up their plans for QB. *Update the WFT has released Alex Smith.

Phil’s Take

This was very disheartening to hear. The organization that he signed with and gave his hard work, blood, sweat, and tears to come back for didn’t plan for him to come back at all. I understand it was a devastating injury but you have to have faith in someone you signed especially someone that risked their health for you. Now they have released him I hope he can find a job because he is a decent QB.

Akeem’s Take

I really do like Alex Smith. To come back after that gruesome injury and still have the urge to want to play is amazing. So I think it's a shame that they have decided to part ways with him. From a business standpoint I get it. If he isn't making you money then, time to cut him loose. But the man has been through so much I just want to see him win!

JJ Reunites with D Hop In Arizona

JJ Watt decides to finally rejoin D Hop in Arizona after keeping many guessing where he would land.

Phil’s Take

I love the move!!!!!!! Cardinals get a much needed defensive boost while JJ plays for a playoff contender. D Hop tried to persuade JJ a while ago to join and it looks like it worked. The only loser in this situation is Russell Wilson now having to worry about the Rams, 49ers, and now upgraded Cardinals frontline.

Akeem’s Take

This made me extremely happy!!!!! I'm already a fan of the Cardinals, but now I'm an even bigger fan. Was I sad when I found out D-Hop and JJ weren't going to be on the same team? Absolutely. They both possess immense skill on either side of the ball. But now that they will both be back, couple that with the star power that is Kyler Murray, and you have a great addition to an already great team!!! I can't wait to see what will happen.
