Who are you?
NW: My name is Nick Woodman and I am 25 years old. You can follow me on IG at nickwoodman22 and on Twitter @themanofwood.
BC: Thanks for taking time out of your day to do this interview about your fandom with the Vikings.
How did you become a Vikings fan?
NW: I became a Vikings fan my sophomore year of high school after I started playing football and I watched every game one weekend and after I watched Adrian Peterson stiff arm his way to a 80 yard TD up the sideline against the browns I knew I found the right team to root for.
BC: Adrian Peterson is a monster of the field and hands down one of the best players in our generation. Seeing him in that Vikings uniform was a scary sight for the opposition but an amazing sight for fantasy football managers that draft AP.
Favorite player growing up?
NW: Going up was AP, I’d probably say right now my favorite (non Viking) player to watch would be Aaron Donald.
BC: Like we mentioned before AP was that MAN in Minnesota. They called him All Day for a reason because he can run ALL DAY!
Favorite game or moment?
NW: My favorite moment as a fan was a few years ago when we knocked the saints out of the playoffs with the Minneapolis miracle when Stefon Diggs caught a corner route and took it too the crib. I damn near cried tears of joy.
BC: One of the most craziest playoff moments in NFL history as of late and just another heartbreaking moment for Saints fans. Everyone was in awe and cheer when Diggs took his helmet off and threw it after scoring
Thoughts on Adrian Peterson's Viking career?
NW: In my opinion I think AP is a Top 5 running back of all time, so bias me is gonna say we let him go too early and we coulda used him for another year. I think he’s one of the best Vikings to ever wear the color purple and gold.
BC: No doubt he will go down as a top 5 running back and at the same time you got to know when to move on from a talent and we believe AP could have played one more as well. We are just glad they didn’t hold onto him for too long.
Thoughts on Kirk Cousins signing?
NW: Thoughts on kirk cousins..oh boy. Well first off, he’s a genius and he’s also the greatest Bank robber of all time. With that being said..I would say I have very mixed feelings about him, I wanna like him cause we are paying him so much money but at the same time he hasn’t proven to me that he’s worth all that money. I think we shoulda drafted a QB this year to eventually replace him and I wouldn’t have given in that much money when we didn’t even make it to the Super Bowl.
BC: Kirk Cousins signing is a tricky situation. He’s shown flashes of being good and also shown flashes of why did we pay this man. We don’t think he is a solution at QB but he will do until the Vikings find one.
Thoughts on Dalvin Cook?
NW: I like dalvin cook a lot when he’s on the field. He took a positive step this season in his development I thought but he’s still injury prone which means less explosive plays on the field. I hope he can play every game this season healthy because he’s a big part of the offense. We struggled heavy when he wasn’t in the game.
BC: Dalvin Cook could be star in this league when healthy. Keyword is healthy.
Thoughts on rivalry with NFC North?
NW: Packers are the biggest rivalry and will always be the ones to beat while arod is still there. I’m counting down the days for him to retire haha. The packers drafting a QB made me happy cause hopefully that means Aaron will be gone in the next few years but I’m not gonna hold my breathe.
BC: The Packers have been the biggest threat in the division for a while and with Aaron Rodgers age going up who knows how long the Packers have left.
Thoughts on offseason moves?
NW: I honestly thought this was a rockstar draft for us, we got positions filled we needed (WR and CB) I’m excited to see what Justin Jefferson looks like. I’m also happy we drafted another linemen in the second round because we had one of the worst if not the worst offensive lines in the league. Stefon Diggs leaving hurt my feelings because I really like him as a player and I liked him when we drafted him out of Maryland, I even got his jersey so I’m sad to see him leave but at the same time he’s got to make choices that are best for him just like the organization would if they didn’t like him anymore. It’s a business.
BC: They got one of the biggest steals in the draft by getting Justin Jefferson from LSU after Philly passed up on him.
Thoughts on the future?
NW: On the future i’m really looking forward to us getting a better offensive line, a stout defensive line and a little bit more swagger to our game offensively and defensively. All we gotta do is win the division and make sure the packers don’t beat us in the playoffs. Protecting Kirk is gonna be super important because of the troubles we had last year and beating the 49ers, saints and eagles are always gonna be important because of how those teams rush the passer. When Kirk is scared we will lose 100% of the time. Period.
BC: As we see the hands of the Vikings is in Dalvin Cook’s hands. He stays healthy they will be successful if not it will be even tougher on Kirk, Jefferson, and Theilen.
We would like to thank Nick for his time and make sure you follow him on his socials!!
