How did you become a Saints fan?

LE: I became a saints fan for a few reasons. Huge Reggie Bush USC fan growing up and loved the way he played. Lastly, will smith being from Utica and seeing him play on that team made it easy to root for them.

BC: Having someone like Will Smith play for the NFL is really inspiring especially since people from the same place he came from can believe that they too can make it to the NFL if they believe and work hard enough for it. He is no longer currently with us but the impact he left for Utica will always be remembered. As for Reggie Bush he was an amazing college talent as well as NFL talent. The Saints got a steal by grabbing Bush.

Will Smith was born on July 4th, 1981 and passed on April 9th, 2016. He was inducted in the Saints Ring of Honor in 2019.

Favorite player growing up?

LE: My favorite player growing up was Reggie Bush. I loved the way he played the game and how great he was. He truly played on another level and speed than everyone on the field.

BC: Reggie Bush was loved by all in New Orleans being their running back for multiple years. He even was a very integral part in their super bowl win vs the Colts in 2010.

Reggie Bush was drafted second overall by the Saints in 2006 and played with the team until 2010 which was the year he won a super bowl with the Saints.

Favorite game or moment?

LE: Favorite game was the Super Bowl the Saints won in 2010. The intensity of that game was unreal and I was excited to watch. The best moment of the game was watching Tracy porter get a pick six on Peyton Manning to extend the lead.

BC: It was an amazing super bowl and well deserved for the Saints. Our favorite moments was that pick as well.

Thoughts on Saints last Super Bowl?

LE: I think the saints team was great especially on offense for that Super Bowl win in 2010. It was special to watch and see how they could put up so many yards and points on any given Sunday.

BC: That super bowl was an amazing showcase of offense from both ends and it was only right that the deciding factor was a defensive play from Tracy Porter. Brees, Bush, Marques Colston, Jeremy Shockey and that Saints O-Line put on a show.

Thoughts on the Saints coming up short lately?

LE: The team is relatively young team so they have to figure out winning and staying consistent. So coming up short is tough to watch when the talent and swagger is there.

BC: The Saints for a good majority of seasons since 2010 has been one of the elite teams in the NFL but failed to capture another Lombardi since then. They have had struggles here and there but the potential for another Super Bowl is there.

Saints have had some trouble in the playoffs recently but will look to turn things around in 2020/2021.

Are the refs screwing the Saints?

LE: I don’t blame the refs as much as people want to blame them. I think you have to put yourself in position so it’s not put in the refs judgement. I think if they take care of business and not let it be close they dominant any and every team they play.

BC: We completely agree with this statement. When you play you play so the game isn't in the hands of the refs. Refs are guaranteed to miss calls because they are human so if you play well enough so it doesn't effect you there will be no problem.

There has been huge controversy over the last couple of Saints playoff runs where people claim the refs screwed them like this missed PI call against the Rams two years ago.

Thoughts on Saints roster?

LE: I love the roster right now with the additions in the draft and free agency. I love what the saints did in the draft this year drafting players that can help right now and make impact. The saints have one of the best if not the best overall roster in the nfl and it may be very dangerous for the rest of the league.

BC: We see a lot of potential in the Saints as they are currently prepping for another playoffs run as they sit as the second seed at 11-4 at the time this article is written.

Taysom Hill did enough to keep the Saints afloat. Now that Brees is back they will make another playoff push.

How much does Drew have left?

LE: I think drew is a competitor and wants to win one more ring. He realizes the amount of talent and supporting cast he currently has. I like jameis he just needs to make better decisions with the ball and he’s a top tier QB easily if he does that. I think drew has about 1 or 2 more years and he’s done for good.

BC: We also agree. Drew Brees is on the tail end of his career after an illustrious career. He has also had some injuries recently so that kind of sped up the end for him. We really want Drew to win another chip but if he doesn't he still will be a great in our eyes.

Drew Brees has been the captain and QB of the Saints for what seems like forever. All good things must come to an end.

Thoughts on the future?

LE: The future is bright and I love it. The roster is so young with many core positions that were needed for years. I think they will be able to compete year in year out with the pieces they have if salary cap allows it. Saints will win 2 championships in the next 5-7 years.

BC: Even with Drew Brees retiring soon we do believe the Saints will be competitive. It all depends on who stays and who the QB will be but they will remain good in our eyes.

The New Orleans Saint has a bright future led by star running back Alvin Kamara.
