Well guys... it’s time to scramble and see who ends up where. It’s almost like a big game of darts! Lol. But seriously, this is a fun time for teams. They get to get rid of some people they think are hindering their progress, and try and find new puzzle pieces to fit with the chemistry of the rest of the team. So let’s see who goes where and what for...
Celtics get Fournier but trade away Theis
It’s better than nothing I guess. i really wanted the Celtics to grab John Collins or Nikola Vucevic because they need a reliable big man badly but I guess I will take another scorer because Boston has been struggling to score especially in the fourth. Plus I was sad to see Theis go but maybe it’s a move we had to make to grab Drummond or a big in free agency.
I remember when Fournier was fantasy relevant. But that time has since passed. Maybe he'll regain some of that spark back by going to a new team. It doesn't bother me who the Celtics had to give up, seeing as how I don't follow them as much as my counterpart. But I guess we'll wait and see what happens.
Aaron Gordon to Mile High City
Another player I wanted the Celtics to grab but no luck. The Nuggets have gotten more dangerous with this trade. A big duo with MVP candidate Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon is scary. Sad to see Gary Harris go but its a business.
This one I'm excited for. I've always been a fan of Aaron Gordon! And I feel like any team he joins is instantly going to be upgraded. So I'm super happy about this for him.
Vucevic heads to Chi Town
Once again another player that I would love to see in Boston but no luck. I love this move from Chicago. Gives Zach Lavine a running mate and getting them a inch closer to contending for a title. Plus they still have Lauri Markannen so the future is bright in Chi Town.
I like that this gives Zach Lavine some more help. He’s really been carrying his team all season. Which sounds bad because I know he has other factors on the team that contribute to the win. But I hope you get what I’m trying to say.
Oladipo to Vice City
I honestly wasn’t expecting Oladipo to be moved but I’m glad he is. Having the defensive combo of Jimmy Butler and Victor Oladipo will be well needed in the playoffs and add Bam to hold down the paint the Heat’s defense got even scarier. Expect them to make another playoff run.
I didn’t expect for him to go anywhere either. I saw him being a good fit on his current team. But I’m not upset at the move from a business standpoint. My only gripe about this is being that the Heat were the team to knock my favorite team out the playoffs last year, the more firepower they get, the harder it’s going to be to stop them.
Andre Drummond and LaMarcus Aldridge get bought out
Drummond and LA12 couldn‘t be traded so now they will hit the free agency market. Both players have been linked to the Celtics so I hope Boston gets one of them. Drummond has been favored to the Lakers and LA12 has been favored to the Heat. With the Heat already gaining Oladipo this might make the Heat the favorite in the East next to the Nets. As for the Lakers this will definitely help in their arms race versus the Nets and Clippers. Giving AD some big man help since he is still recovering.
I've been a fan of Drummond since he entered the league. So to know that he's going to be on the market for a new team is exciting. I hope he ends up somewhere that can actually use him for the talent that we all know he possesses.
It’s been interesting to say the least. But I am excited to see how the recent additions to these teams will shape the rest of the season. With many teams pushing to make the playoffs, or at least have a record that’s above .500 the push to add and drop players was a big one. Stay tuned for more updates.
