Welcome to Baller Central!!!! Basketball and Football articles created by Phil and Akeem
Hey all!!! These are just a few things that have been grinding our gears. There's definitely some things we need to discuss. So sit back, relax, and enjoy these hot takes!
Steph needs more Warriors
Steph Curry is without Klay Thompson this season as he injured his Achilles in the offseason. He does have Draymond Green and newly drafted rookie phenom James Wiseman. Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre have been underperforming as well. This season will show if Steph can truly carry the Warriors and launch him into a higher status.
Phil: This will truly be one of the hardest seasons for Steph Curry. He will need to be unanimous MVP Steph almost every night to keep this Warriors team competitive. They plan on making moves to change this roster like trying to trade for Lonzo Ball and JJ Redick. I think the Warriors don’t have enough pieces to be competitive and they will barely make the playoffs.
Akeem: This makes me sad. Because I truly want the team to make it. But after Klay being forced to sit out for the year, again, I don't see this getting any better. Steph really has to perform, some would argue, even better than he did when he won MVP. At least then he had help. And I mean people that can produce 30-40 points per night. Who does he have now? Draymond? Congrats. Now what about everyone else? It's just going to be rough and a true test of his will to want to win if anything good is going to come from this.
NBA handling Corona Poorly
The NBA has postponed games due to its Corona protocols and has have players sit out for days and maybe a week. Not only handicapping teams but fantasy managers worldwide.
Phil: The NBA needs to change their protocol because players missing games hurts everyone involved. Plus postponing games could effect standings and playoff hunts. I’m ok with fantasy since I’m undefeated in all three of my leagues.
Akeem: Phil just had to throw in the fact that he was undefeated in all of his leagues? See, this is why we can't have nice things. Anyway, these players missing all the games really aren't helping with anything. It's making me not want to watch games, in addition to it affecting my fantasy lineups. I'm having to scramble to find people just to have a full team, never mind one that can produce. It's a struggle.
Nets Forming More than Big 3
The Nets acquired former Houston Rockets franchise player James Harden. Rumors have it they want more. They have been linked to acquiring Cavs players such as Kevin Love, Javale McGee, or Andre Drummond via buyout from their Cavs.
Phil: Kevin Durant was a part of a super team created by the Warriors and now this time around he wants to create his own. He already got Harden to join after talks in the offseason and who knows who else KD wants to come to Brooklyn? This is what everyone fears..... Super Teams making basketball less fun to watch. We will see how this plays out but so far the Warriors might get replaced as NBA villain.
Akeem: With all this talk about super teams, I'm actually still excited to see what happens in Brooklyn. I like the 3 big superstars being on this team. It's nice to see how their playing styles mesh, or don't. It also forces teams to have to play their best ball possible. But even with these 3 big names, they aren't unbeatable. No one seems to be speaking on the Utah Jazz having the best record in the league without what most would consider a big 3. They just play really good team ball. And at the end of the day, that's what wins the games.
Pacers trade Saves Caris LeVert’s Life
Caris LeVert gets traded to Indiana but during the physical with the Pacers they notice a mass on his kidney. Fast forward they spotted early signs of cancer which is amazing since LeVert has been feeling fine all season prior to the trade.
Phil: This trade was a blessing in disguise for Caris LeVert easily. Not only does he go to a new team to show off his full potential but he also finds out about the hidden cancer in his kidney and can game plan for it. He will be out for a while with the surgery but no doubt he will be back.
Akeem: Not even speaking from just a fantasy standpoint, but LeVert was doing well for himself prior to this trade. Was it top notch? Well I'll let you guys be the judge of that. I'm just thankful that he had to have the physical. They found the mass and he's successfully undergone surgery. So the road to recovery will be a long one, but at least he has a chance to come back. That's truly a blessing!!!
Bad News Beal
Bradley Beal is putting up monster performances but the Wizards are the worst team in the NBA.
Phil: GET BRADLEY BEAL OUT OF WASHINGTON PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!! He’s giving the wizards his all but it’s time to move on and give Beal a chance to win. He has earn the right. It’s rebuilding time for Washington they made it clear with the Wall trade and with how things are going they need to start this process even faster. Westbrook is playing poorly while injured and Beal is putting up monster numbers in losses and you can tell he is sick of it.
Akeem: You want to talk about sad??? This is heartbreaking. Because he literally out here playing his behind off, and has nothing to show for it. It's the equivalent of me bowling a 300 and my team loses. You may have not understood that reference but trust me, it's not something you want to experience. It has to be infuriating. And if I were him, I would be desperately begging to get out. Don't play. Something. There has to be a way around all of this!!!
These are just a few hot takes. These topics range from things that are super important to everyone, and things that we just felt were important to us. So even if you think it's something small, feel free to comment on something that has you stressed about the current state of the NBA. Who knows, it may be discussed in our next article.
