Welcome to Baller Central!!!! Basketball and Football articles created by Phil and Akeem

THE NBA SEASON IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!!!!!!! We have a lot of prediction articles out and here is one of them. Here is our awards predictions. Who do you have winning these awards? Give us your picks before reading the article!!!!!

NBA Defensive Player of the Year

Rudy Gobert was the previous winner.

Phil’s Pick

Anthony Davis

Rudy Gobert will not have another DPOY award this year because it feels like he won it every single year. Also I believe that Anthony Davis has a lot to prove this year. He had health issues and the Lakers got knocked out in the first round. With a lot of time to rest and be healthy he will have an amazing season. As long as he stays healthy he should be a major defensive piece. We know he could block, alter shots, and rebound with the best of them we just gotta see it when he is healthy.

Akeem’s Pick

Rudy Gobert

I think this year Rudy Gobert could win it again. I feel like he's got the potential to play as well as he did last year. And even though, according to Phil, it feels like he wins it every year, he's clearly deserving of the honor. Plus he'll have to show up to make up for his team when they have their off nights.

NBA Coach of the Year

Tom Thibs earned the award last year as he brought the Knicks to the Playoffs.

Phil’s Pick

Billy Donovan

I have the Bulls making the playoffs this year and even being a top 5 seed in the East with the moves they made this off-season. Lonzo, DeMar, and Caruso joined the squad and they lost Lauri Markannen which opens up Patrick Williams to have a breakout season. A starting lineup of Lonzo, Lavine, DeRozan, Williams, and Nikola Vucevic can do a lot of damage. Knowing Chicago's history post Derrick Rose a playoff appearance almost guarantees an award especially if the Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau got it.

Akeem’s Pick

While I do think Billy Donovan will be a great coach this year with the additions that Chicago has added. I feel like it's going to go Mike Budenholzer again. Even if Milwaukee doesn't win the championship again, you can't deny their sheer talent. It may be a little cliché but until you beat the champs, you don't get to be coach of the year... #SorryNotSorry

NBA Sixth Man of the Year

Jordan Clarkson was your winner last year

Jordan Clarkson was your winner last year

Phil’s Pick

Tyrese Haliburton

The favorite is Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles and deservedly so because the did amazing for the Jazz last season. HEAR ME OUT. I was very high on Tyrese Haliburton last year as a rookie because i believed he was a top 5 rookie last year and with a year under his belt and a struggling Kings team he has plenty of opportunity to have a great season. Hopefully the Kings don't play a combo guard system with Haliburton and Fox so this comes true. Side note keep an eye out Davion Mitchell on the Kings future DPOY right there.

Akeem’s Pick

Well, Phil said it guys. The favorite is Jordan Clarkson. And I am going to agree with him. I think of Clarkson as an all around plyer. And as a person in 2 leagues that value steals, and defensive stats, I think he's a top choice. Now don't get me wrong, there are plenty of players that will try to measure up and take that spot. But I don't see it happening.

NBA Most Improved Player of the Year

Knicks Julius Randle won the award last year.

Phil’s Pick

Jaren Jackson Jr.

The favorite here is Michael Porter Jr. especially after his contract extension but I don't think he will fully live up to it. My pick is Jaren Jackson Jr. from Memphis. He sat out the majority of last season so he will walk into this season as healthy as possible. The Grizzlies need Jaren Jackson Jr. to have a good season so they can be somewhat competitive. Jackson is there second best player and they spent a good draft pick to get him. The Grizzlies showed a lot of toughness and improvement to make the playoffs and i believe they will build on that especially with a healthy JJJ.

Akeem’s Pick

I'm convinced Phil is a mind reader. Because all the people he's saying are clear favorites are the people that I'm choosing. So at this point I'm just gonna let him choose from now on. Maybe I just believe all the hype. So I'm going to say that MPJ will win MIP. It's not even like he hasn't played well. I just feel like this year will be amazing for him/ With the extension the Nuggets feel he's worthy of it too.

NBA Rookie of the Year

LaMelo Ball was your rookie of the year last year.

Phil’s Pick

Cade Cunningham

Here is one of the favorites I do agree with. Cade Cunningham from Detroit will be your ROY. Not only was he the number one pick but the Pistons had a very good draft as well and surrounded good enough talent for him to have a somewhat productive season. The Pistons have been struggling lately the past years but they are slowly getting back to relevance. I especially loved the Luke Garza pick which will pay off in the future. Expect Cade to do it all this year because he has too.

Akeem’s Pick

Please see above... No sir. I fully expect for Cade Cunningham to live up to his hype. There's a reason he was first pick.

NBA Most Valuable Player of the Year

Nikola Jokic was your MVP last year.

Nikola Jokic was your MVP last year.

Phil’s Pick

Kevin Durant

Give me the Slim Reaper himself Kevin Durant. Especially if Kyrie Irving isn't available which looks like that might be the case. He is a top 5 player in the game and is even healthier than we was last year. He played amazing in the Bucks and Nets playoff series which gave us a glimpse of what he will do this season. With him and Harden being the main two and them splitting Kyrie's production I expect KD having a wild season. More shots opened up and KD and Harden will put on a show this year.

Akeem’s Pick

I would have to agree with Phil. I think KD played amazingly last year. And with Kyrie holding out to play, its going to be open season for KD to cement his legacy. Yes I know James Harden is going to be the focal point I'm sure, but KD will be the reason the Nets make it far in the league this year. And if his foot was about a size smaller, they would be champions. The man is literally going to do it all this year.

There you have it folks! Our season predictions are up and it's time to see who will win what. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the season. I'm sure it'll be a great one. Did we pick your favorites to win? Comment below and leave us a comment!!!
