What is the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0?

This handgun, like the name suggests, was initially developed for use with the military and police departments. This is a semi-automatic, striker-fired, 9mm handgun that holds 17 rounds in the magazine as well as an additional one in the chamber. It is made out of a "military grade" polymer, with all the firing components made out of steel. The total length of this handgun is 8.3" long with a 5" barrel and weighs 29.7 ounces. It also has Tritium night sights and an underbarrel picatinny rail.

The kit itself contains three other grips that are easily changed out, a spare magazine, a S&W M&P coin, and a neck knife, as well as the transportation and storing gun case.

Is this a good Handgun?

I would recommend this gun for a variety of reasons. While not compact like the M&P Shield, this pistol's extra barrel makes it slightly more accurate. While not a gun made for concealed carry, it would be an effective weapon against a potential armed assailant. The rail could be used to mount a laser sight or a small flashlight should the owner desire.

With several thousand rounds fired, this gun has never once jammed on me and while there is no safety/fire switch, there is a hinged "safety trigger". This weapon is also one of the most comfortable handguns I have ever held and while comfort may not seem terribly important, not having a gun that suits you can affect your accuracy. This kit also contains three other grips that are easily changed if your hands are varying size and it doesn't feel comfortable to you.The ergonomics, in my opinion, are far better than any Glock I have ever fired and the night sights are a nice addition to the overall firing of the weapon, as you can easily see your sights when it is dark, allowing you to still see and fire.

All in all, for around $650, (may vary from state to state) this is a good weapon and I would recommend it. Also, make sure to check your state or country's firearm laws before buying, storing and keeping this or any other gun.

Hey thanks Ed. I've loved this purchase and it is probably my favorite 9mm handgun that I own.

I'd used the previous generation of S&W M&P in 9mmP and I personally experienced no malfunctions of any sort. I find this article interesting and thank you for providing the information. You've stirred my interest!
