The leafy county of Nottinghamshire has some fantastic riding for road cyclists, mountain bikers and recreational cyclists who make use of many quiet country roads, fantastic woodland trails and canal towpaths.
Below are a selection of some of Nottinghamshire's best cyclist friendly cafe's including maps to help find them and further information.
Cyclists waiting to order at Newfield Dairy Cafe, Nottinghamshire
Plenty of bike racking at Newfield Dairy Cafe
A great cafe near Southwell. Newfield Dairy Ice Cream Parlour and Cafe
There's a new contender on the Nottinghamshire cafe scene. Newfield Dairy Ice Cream Parlour and Cafe opened in December 2011 and is just being discovered by local cycling clubs.
Newfield Dairy Cafe is situated a few miles north of Southwell to the Eastern side of Nottinghamshire amid beautiful rolling countryside. The nearest place of note is the hamlet of Hockerton although Newfield Dairy Cafe is situated on Caunton Road a mile north of the hamlet on a ninety degree bend.
One of the great things is the cafe's selection of ice cream's and ice cream related recipes which will be refreshing on a hot summer's day as there is also lots of outside space and racking for bike storage.

The Coach House Cafe. Rufford Abbey
Nestled in the heart of Sherwood Forest- Rufford Abbey Visitor Centre and Cafe
Set in the grounds of Rufford Abbey and with fantastic views of the former medieval monastery. The Coach House Cafe is a great choice for cyclists that venture North of Nottingham.
It's location in the heart of Sherwood Forest and just 15 miles from central Nottingham and around 5 miles from Mansfield mean that it's a relatively short ride home after a coffee.
The Coach House offers great hot food options with many specials to choose from. They always have a great homemade soup on offer too if you need warming up.
The Coach House Cafe at Rufford is a great option in warm weather as sadly the room itself stays cool throughout the winter months. Many local cyclists are put off by this feature and it has been an issue with the site for a number of years. Despite a number of refurbishments no consideration has been made to the temperature within the cafe environment.
The Best coffee for cyclists in Nottinghamshire- Cafe Pizzini, Bottesford
When cyclists visit a cafe it's usually for coffee and cake. Therefore a coffee shop with the best coffee in Nottinghamshire is going to be a big draw.
Pizini in Bottesford offers arguably some of the best Italian coffee in the Vale of Belvoir as well as a great selection of home-made cakes.

An outdoor cafe for Mountain bikers and roadies at Blidworth Woods, Sherwood Forest
Blidworth Woods outdoor cafe
Sometimes the simple things are best and you don't need to have a roaring log fire or a complex menu. Sometimes simplicty is key and that's where the cafe in Blidworth Woods is a fantastic option for road and mountain biker riders.
The Cafe is off Longdale lane and is really popular with walkers and dog walkers too. In fact it feels more like a community when you head up there as so many people seem to know each other.

Thanks INFJay- cyclists love cafes. This is a bit of a work in progress as I will add more over time. Good luck for Sonoma

If I ever make it to your neck of the woods I'll be sure to visit your recommended cafes. I think I'll write recommendations for Sonoma County (California) cyclists. Thanks for the inspiration!
