San Francisco, the Giants lead the Mets 6-1 in the 5th. San Fran has dropped 5 straight games.

The starters are Chris Bassitt vs. Logan Webb.

In the top of the 1st, Marte singled and then stole second. It was his 6th stolen base of the season. However, Alonso struck out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 1st Giants had two on with no outs after the runners reached on a double and single. The next batter grounded out and scored the game's first run.

In the top of the 2nd, McNeil reached on a double, Escobar on an infield hit. That brought up Canha with two on and no outs who singled. That tied the game.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Pederson hit a 2-run HR to make 3-1 Giants.

In the bottom of the 4th, La Stella hit a 3-run HR off Bassitt to make it 6-1.

Bassitt was acquired in a trade in the offseason from Oakland. The Mets recently signed Bassitt for a 1-year extension in 2023 for $19 million. They have a mutual option for 2024.

The Mets are coming off a 13-3 rout of the Giants on Monday night in the opening game of their 3-game series. Alonso hit his 11th HR and has an NL leading 40 RBIs.
