Garden Island Fishing Spot In SA
King George Whiting
Sweet Tasting King George Whiting
The "King George Whiting" is a little sweet tasting. Apparently is very nice, cooked in a little bit of butter, with salt and pepper.
Breathtaking Beauty In South Australia
"Garden Island" is an absolutely stunning natural environment. Located only 25 km, from the central business district of Adelaide, in South Australia. Very popular and well known amongst South Australians, as a perfect place to hook a great fish!
Most anglers like to fish from the north side of the island. There you will find a variety of fish to catch. "King George Whiting", "Herring", "Mulloway" and "Garfish". Now i love to catch fish but really do not like to eat fish, that's just me. I have asked my friends some questions, as to the taste of these particular fish.
"Garden Island" is so fondly thought of by South Australians. Not only does it have the most spectacular ecosystem but also boasts one of the biggest ships graveyards, in the world. Holding 26 wrecks consisting of tug boats, sailing ships, barges and even pontoons.
Many pieces of South Australian history, lay embedded in the deep thick mud. Sharing their resting place, with a fine display of mangrove trees. This is one of two or three mangrove environments, left in Adelaide, South Australia. This is the result, of house and land developments. Head down to the boat ramp. There will be a couple of signs, leading the way to the shipwreck trail.

The Atlantic Herring
Herring The Acquired Taste
Herring" by all accounts is a very acquired taste. Could not get an accurate description but saw a lot of faces being pulled. Then i was told, to never try pickled herring.
The Garfish
The Normal Tasting Fish
Last is the "Garfish" . A quite normal tasting fish, from what they say. No horrible fishy taste to deal with. This fish can be smoked, steamed, barbecued, grilled and pan fried. You can compliment it, with just about anything. Pepper, salt, rosemary, butter, and tomato sauce. the choice is yours.
Mulloway
Mixed Taste Mulloway
"Mulloway" i received mixed opinions about. Some say they loved it. They believe it mulloway is exceptionally nice steamed or grilled. Others on the other hand, believe that mulloway smells and tastes like soap. I expect the first time trying this fish, will be an experience. I kind of wish i was a fly on the wall, to see the expression on the persons face.
The Cockle Shell
Fish Love To Eat At Garden Island
The fish in this area like a broad choice of bait. Blood worms, cockles, prawns and even crab. The most popular burley with South Australians, seems to be "Aniseed". The fish just love it!
The Prawn
The Crab

In South Australia we have big juicy crabs that you would begrudge giving the fish. They do love it though.

The Dolphin Sanctuary In South Australia
Let me also inform you about the "Dolphin Sanctuary". The locals here regularly have the pleasure, of watching dolphins swim freely in the water. I have stood on the eco designed boardwalk and watched the dolphins, swimming right next to the boats. Kayaking trips are available via the link below.
These are valued at $75.00 per person.

Haha enjoy them Apostle Jack :) I love catching them but give them to my hubby to clean and eat. There is nothing like reeling one in though, one of the best feelings in the world. :)
