Salt Water Fishing the Flats of Brevard County Florida
Lot #21 Water Front Property
Palm Bay Florida
My Salt Water Fishing Home
On shore between these two docks,(pictured above) use to sit, a third fishing dock in a Mobile Home subdivision on Pearl Court near the southern out skirts of Palm Bay Florida.
The house at the front on the Highway #1 entrance to Pearl Court housed the manager for this establishment. There were twenty one residents who lived, on a horseshoe road that entered at highway one and went back up to exit on highway one in Palm Bay Florida.
My mobile home was off that horseshoe road and my little road ended at my house that faced the Indian River Lagoon. I could drop my fourteen foot John boat in the water off my front yard with one quick pull of the winch. The winch was fastened atop the three rollers platform( I made from four by fours) I had it rolled up on to get it above the rising river when it stormed.
I was living on the shore of salt(brine) waters of the Inter coastal waters known as the Indian River Lagoon and I bought the place for the sole purpose to be able to fish without having to use my car to get to a fishing spot.
I wintered here and fished here for a decade. I had many salt water fishing adventures, and experienced tips and rules, that might help you have the same success at salt water fishing that I enjoyed over these years.

Blue Crab Quick Easy Healthy Recipes
Salt Water Blue Crab Fishing with Recipe
You do need a fishing license to catch Blue Crabs with box traps. You are allowed five traps with a salt water fishing licence.
If you are a Florida resident you can catch Blue crabs with a chicken back tied to a string from the shoreline, and make sure you have your hand net ready to catch them before they drop off the chicken.
There are a number of fold down traps that work good also. You tie bait to the middle of the trap and when the crab attacks the meat, it folds itself into a triangle by the strings being pulled up, entrapping the crab to haul up. Blue crabs are one of the best crab meats, you will ever eat.
Included is a how to recipe for cooking grabs on a backyard fire pit. Also try Crab with Spinach Pasta in a creamy buttery sauce.
Salt Water Fishing License
The paper license is a salt water fishing license that you need to carry on your person the entire time you are fishing. If you cannot produce a salt water fishing license when asked by a Marine Patrol Officer you could be subject to fines and confiscation of your fishing equipment or more.
The fishing license money goes to support Marine Research, fish hatcheries, habitat restoration, building artificial reefs and law enforcement. You are contributing to the conservation of the fishing industry ,for use in the future by your kids, by buying a salt water fishing license.

Salt Water Fishing Knives
This set of fish knives, I have used for a decade or more.
The ones I use most of the time, are the Normark knives. They have a six inch stainless steel flexible blade, that is easy to fillet fish. They also have a sharp tip that can puncture the skin easily. I always skin my fish instead of scaling it.
Catch and Release
We can all help to conserve our fish resources, for our future fisherman, by learning to catch and release your fish. Learn your local fishing regulations by taking only the fish you will use.
