The international break is finally over and we are into the first week of April right now as the business end of this covid19 stricken season begins from tomorrow. Most of you must have used all your chips but if you still have left any of those, it's quite a big advantage for you to use it well and make a good lead over your opponents. What players should be opted for and who can be a good captain's choice .. Let's analyse :-
1) Goalkeeper - Edouard Mendy
Brought in as the replacement of a struggling Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Senegalese has repayed the faith shown on him by the owners and the manager. Having the best percentage clean sheets in the league and with an organized defense in front of him that has conceded only twice since Tomas Tuchel came in, Edouard Mendy is one of the top goalkeeper acquisition of this week. Priced at just 5.2M , Mendy is up against the second last team of the points table West Bromwich Albion this week and with games against other bottom ranked sides Crystal Palace and Brighton coming up, it makes him a strong contender to be handed a spot in your starting team.
2) Defender - Stuart Dallas
If you have the Leeds United defender already, very good.. If you don't, what are you waiting for??? One of the top 3 FPL defenders this season and available at a very reasonable price of 5.1M . The Northern Ireland full back, who is playing in the midfield right now as per the new tactics of Marcelo Bielsa, has a fair chance of giving attacking returns as well other than the clean sheet points. Dallas plays the bottom ranked side Sheffield United this week with tougher fixtures coming afterwards but let's think about making this week profitable first and for that I recommend you to bring the Irishman in.
3) Midfielder - James Ward-Prowse
Southampton are in a recovery period after suffering from some frightful set of games in the first two months of 2021. When he will go up against Burnley this week, it's a game which can very well decide the fate of these two teams as both are not very far away from the relegation zone. The English midfielder scored a first goal for his country in the recently concluded International break and since he is on the set pieces duty for his club side , it makes him a valuable asset in terms of FPL points. At 5.9M , James can be the bargain midfield pick in your side that must be including heavy price tag commodities like Bruno Fernandes and Mohammed Salah.
4) Forward - Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Once upon a time this season , Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the top scorer of the league and a prime favorite of many FPL managers. An injury and the subsequent loss of form got them to remove him from the side and his price also fell down to 7.6M from the highest of 8.0. Recently, he seemed to get his finishing sharpness back as we saw during England's match against San Marino in the international break where he could've had a hat trick easily though ended up with a brace. Calvert-Lewin is up against Crystal Palace this week and would want to make his teams European competition hopes alive by putting the ball in the net. One can say he is a differential option to be given the captain's armband.
Additional tip : As we discussed about the captaincy option.. Harry Kane is probably the safest and most popular pick of this week going up against the struggling Newcastle United. Another good option would be Bruno Fernandes who will be playing against Brighton.
