Author is a football lover and is playing the FPL game since the last 3 years
Another midweek FPL battle is upon us. Last week wasn't really good for many players because Pep Guardiola once again did one if his rotation roulettes and benched Joao Cancelo, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez..three guys who were transferred by a lot of FPL managers. Bruno Fernandes , Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tomas Soucek , Hueng -Min Son blanking didn't helped the matters either.
A new set of players should be looked on for this week and I've made that sort of list, so let's view what's in store for this week :-
1) Defender - Craig Dawson
The Hammers defender has 6 full starts in the league, all in their last 6 games and has notched up 36 points in those with a total of 3 goals he scored at set pieces. Given his current form, it seems David Moyes will be giving him an extended run in an impressive backline consisting of Cresswell, Obangana and Coufal. His low price of 4.5M makes him a budgeted pick as well as you can go for other high priced players with the funds available.
2) Defender - César Azpilicueta
The Chelsea captain and right back Azpilicueta has found a way back in the side after being benched over the youngster Reece James in initial games by then coach Frank Lampard. The new manager Tomas Tuchel prefers a 3-4-2-1 formation and with his defensive prowess, Azpilicueta should be a mainstay in the back 3 lineup. Azpilicueta scored a goal along with keeping a clean sheet in weekend against Burnley and at just 5.6M , Cesar can be the defensive plus scoring option at the back you would like to have in your team.
3) Midfielder - Wilfried Zaha
The Crystal Palace star hasn't really been in much limelight since his return from injury but it all could change this week. Crystal Palace have a favorable set of fixtures ahead and it might be the right time to get the controversial and talented glaziers midfielder in your squad. At 7.2M , Zaha can be a long term lucrative asset . If you want to replace Heung-Min son after his dip in form and Kane's injury, Zaha might just be the player you are looking for.
4) Midfielder - Matheus Pereira
The West Brom Albion midfielder has been one of the bright sparks in their overall struggling campaign. Having scored a total of 39 points in his last 4 outings, his form indicates that he is someone to be considered for an FPL spot. A price of a just 5.6M and next opponents being the bottom ranked side Sheffield United may tempt you further to bring him in. West Brom have an interesting fixture in next few weeks playing the two top 6 sides after the Sheffield United game then the bottom 5 sides again for 3 weeks. He can both be a long term or a short term option depending on how much faith you got on the baggies midfielder.
5) Midfielder - James Maddison
Surely the Leicester City playmaker has been eyed by most of the FPL managers by now. An impressive set of returns and a relatively cheap price of 7.3M , Maddison 's ownership has increased by some distance in the last two weeks. Jamie Vardy being out with an injury has added an extra responsibility on him to go for attacks which is also a positive sign in terms of FPL. He will be up against Fulham this week who aren't really that compact defensively and the foxes midfielder would want to make it count.
