Author is a football lover and is playing the FPL game since the last 4 years
The last premier League gameweek before the European competition resumes on Tuesday. Keeping that in mind we will have to look which players can be given a breather to keep them fresh for the weekday games. It is a slightly different week because four teams will be playing twice this week - Burnley, Fulham, Everton and the table toppers Manchester City.
In this extract, I'll name 4 out of 5 players from the teams playing twice this gameweek since I believe many of you will be using your wildcard or free hit chip ahead of the week :-
1) Goalkeeper - Ederson Moraes
Most clean sheets in the league and plays twice this week. If that is not enough to bring the Brazilian in your squad he can also be the one who takes penalties for the citizens till Kevin de Bruyne comes back as suggested by Pep Guardiola. With an almost infallible defense ahead of him , Ederson hasn't really saved much shots on target but on the other hand hasn't conceded an open play goal since mid December. In case the 6.1M goalie is indeed on penalties duty and scores it will be a total bonus to get 6 scoring points from a goalkeeper which makes him one of the must buy picks for the City double gameweek.
2) Defender - Ben Mee
Burnley is a team known for its low blocks and strength in defending which helped them broke the fortress known as Anfield and stay up the relegation zone after they started the season poorly. One of the mainstays of that defense is the skipper Ben Mee. Along with the fellow backline player James Tarkowsky and the goalkeeper Nick Pope , Mee has made even bigger teams sweat in order to score against his team. To take advantage of the two games Burnley plays this week against relatively matched opponents in Crystal Palace and Fulham, it is advisable to bring atleast one of their defenders in your squad. My pick is the 5.0M priced Ben Mee.
3) Defender - Stuart Dallas
One of the most popular picks of the FPL game James Justin has been ruled out for the time being after suffering a knee injury in the FA cup tie. If you have him in your team, his ideal replacement is the Leeds United left back Stuart Dallas . Although still listed as a defended, Dallas has been playing in midfield from the last 2 weeks thus increasing his chances of an attacking return. In the last match he contributed an assist and scored 12 points. Leeds United will be playing Arsenal who are coming off two consecutive losses and have a double game fixture next week so bringing Dallas who is priced at a mere 4.8M now is a smart and calculative move.
4) Midfielder - Ademola Lookman
Fulham is another team which plays twice this week first against Everton and then against Burnley. Your midfield option may not be as much stacked as the other departments so the top scoring midfielder of the cottages Ademola Lookman is one of the options to look upto. At just 5.0M , Lookman is worth a shout to be given a go and fill a vacant midfield spot and can be expected to give a good return for this week.
5) Forward - Richarlison
The top Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been ruled out of the match against Fulham and is 50-50 for their second clash of the week against Manchester City. The apt replacement for him is his teammate the Brazilian Richarlison, who scored a brace two nights ago in his team's victory over Tottenham in the FA cup. Although the 7.8M forward has not really set the stage on fire as his injured teammate, Richarlison is the one that can be trusted for a spot especially in a week where he is scheduled to play twice.
