Another week, another re-shuffling of fantasy premier league picks. After the last two weeks being slightly different in terms of games played, normalcy resumes with every team playing one game a week. With injuries to some prominent players, it's essential to look for all the options available and choose the most suitable player for your team.
In my last week's picks, I had the defender John Stones as my #1 who went on to be the top scorer of the week with 27 points. Is it another week to bank on defenders?? Here are my top 5 picks of the week
1) Goalkeeper - David de Gea
The Manchester United man has had an up-down season so far. Although pretty decent in front of the goal , at times the backline has let him down. This week it's a David vs Goliath game for his team the table toppers United who are facing the bottom tier Sheffield United. With the opposition having trouble in threatening other team's defense, the goalkeeper valued at 5.3M can be a safe pick if u want to change your Goalkeeper.
2- Defender - João Cancelo
If United are playing the bottom ranked side, their neighbors are up against the 2nd bottom ranked team. Besides this... Man city have three easy fixtures coming up and with their strong defensive lineup , it is expected they will add up more clean sheets in an already impressive resume of this season. The full back Cancelo makes overlapping runs and essentially plays as an Attacking midfielder in most of the games this season so him getting a goal or assist apart from defensive points is not completely ruled out. At 5.8M , he is a valuable asset to pick and keep in your side as I predict his price may get increased in sometime.
3) Midfielder - Bertrand Traore
Good Form. Low ownership. Impressive last few returns. These three things can be very tempting while selecting a player and Traore checks all of these boxes. Aston Villa midfielder has been providing a solid support to the star Jack Grealish in the midfield and looked threatening against a strong Man City defense as well. He will be playing Burnley this week who have blown rather cold than hot most of the season. At just 5.9M , he is the cheap and reliable option you can get for your team.
4) Midfielder - Phil Foden
The second Man city player in the list and a great option to replace the injured Kevin De Bruyne in midfield. Phil Foden has been nothing short of impressive ever since he got off the bench to be a regular in starting eleven and with their main man KDB out injured, responsibility lies more on the 20 year old's shoulder to create chances and score them when they fall to him. Being at only 6.3M and City's next few favorable fixtures also work in his favor.
5) Forward - Dominic Calvert Lewin
If you have removed the Everton man from your team after him missing the last few games, maybe it's time to bring him back. With Jamie Vardy out injured a reliable forward must be a need in your team and Calvert-Lewin can be that option. He scored a goal on his comeback in the FA cup on Sunday so it can be assumed doesn't has any rust. At 7.6M , Dominic Calvert-Lewin can add to his tally of 11 goals this week
