Best Non Conference Matchups for Sec 2021

My Top Non Conference Games of SEC

  1. 9/4/21 - Georgia vs Clemson (Charlotte) - This will be a matchup between two teams that are going to be ranked in the top 10 coming into the season. The Bulldogs last played Clemson in there 2014 season opener in Athens and won 45-21. The year before Georgia lost to Clemson in there 2013 season opener in Death Valley 38-35 in a top 10 non conference matchup. This is a big time non conference matchup for both teams as both will be considered playoff contenders to start the season off.
  2. 11/27/21 - Clemson at South Carolina - South Carolina has lost 6 straight to there in state rivals and due to covid pandemic these two did not play each other for the first time since 1909! If the Gamecocks have anything to play for by this time they would want to try and win this game against there hated rivals which has blown them out three straight by an average score of 42-17.
  3. 9/11/21 - Texas at Arkansas - These two teams were in the old Southwest Conference together from 1915 to 1991. They met on the field from 1932 to 1991 Texas leading the way with 41-19 series record.
  4. 9/4/21 - Alabama vs Miami)FL- Bama beat Miami in the 1993 Sugar Bowl 34-13 to win the national champion for the 1992 season and that was the last time these two programs faced each other. They also played in the 1990 Sugar Bowl where Miami beat Alabama to capture that national title for the 1989 season. Since then Miami has won one national title in 2001 while Alabama has won six ('09, '11, '12, '15, '17 and '20).
  5. 9/18/21 - Auburn at Penn State - Auburn has not played a Big Ten opponent in the non conference regular season since 1931! That year they played Wisconsin to a 7-7 tie. Since then they have only played Big Ten teams in bowl games in which they have a 7-6 record. Auburn has played Penn State twice before they will make the trip to Happy Valley this year. They are 1-1 against Penn State winning in the 2003 Capital One Bowl 13-9 and a 43-14 lost to the Nittany Lions in the 1996 Outback Bowl. This will be big game for both teams as both are coming off disappointing seasons.
  6. 9/4/21 - LSU at UCLA - This will be the first meeting between these two teams as LSU makes the trip out to Pasadena. The Tigers have won 12 in row against Pac 12 teams since 1981.
  7. 11/27/21 - Florida State at Florida - These two heated rivals did not meet on the field last year due to the pandemic. Since 2000 this series is tied at 10-10 with the Gators winning the last two ('18 & '19). What will these two teams season be like when they play is the question? The Noles have been down but they have enough talent to turn it around quickly and as for Florida we will know what they are about by then.
  8. 9/18/21 - Stanford at Vanderbilt - This will be the first time these two meet on the football field when the Cardinal come the Nashville. Vanderbilt has only played one other Pac 12 team in there history and that was a 1961 lost to UCLA in California 28-14.
  9. 9/11/21 - Kentucky at Louisville - From 1994 to 2013 these two in state rivals use to meet up at the beginning of the year or the second game. But since Louisville has moved to the ACC in 2014 they have moved to the rivalry to the last game of the year. They have only played each other every since 1994 with Kentucky going 11-15 against Louisville. The Wildcats have won the last two as they also did play each other for the 2020 season and those games were blowouts as Kentucky won in '18 & '19 by a combined score of 101-23!
  10. 9/6/21 - Ole Miss vs Louisville (Atlanta) - First meeting between these two programs. The Rebels are 1-4 against ACC schools all time with there last game was a 2016 season opener lost to Florida State in Orlando 45-34.
